Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Silver as alternative building block to copper

How bad is it that the potential existance of silver as an in-game material makes me want to have Werewolf mobs you can only fight off with silver weapons?  Maybe they could have similar mechanics to Zombie villagers.

I had this idea too, except with tin. That way bronze can be added as well.

How is silver equal to copper? Aren't they like way different? Isn't silver really rare and copper is not? (No offense)

Anyway, having another metal that completely mimics what copper does is probably not going to be added. Copper has very few actually useful uses so far (It's mostly a building block). And Mojang has already said they want all the ores to be unique with their own uses and purposes.

Same as copper in terms of type of block and in respect to the color change mechanic.
Rarity doesn’t factor into this, that can be different.

I just recognize a niche in building material that is lacking.
Namely metallic shiny blocks that are light and silvery or dark and glossy.
Iron blocks are dull and industrial.
    Fine for an appropriate build.
Right now we have just two shiny blocks, gold and diamond. With copper we get reddish and green shiny.
But those I consider more useful for highlights and detailing.

A big metal construction with a glossy surface is currently not possible.

For all I care, silver can have other applications, let’s say for alchemy, or whatever, though I am not that interested in that. Others have made suggestions for several applications, but I have not seen the suggestion to adapt the new copper mechanics for this specific niche.
Personally I‘d say silvery metal is more interesting than copper, but that ship has sailed and copper has entered the game already.
I imagine in terms for aesthetics it‘s basically a copy and paste job with color values adjusted.

How about Titanium? It's one of the most common naturally occurring metals (more common than copper is in real life, I think).

Titanium is actually very resistant to corrosion, so it would be like copper except it doesn't oxidize (which keeps Copper's unique mechanics unique), while still making it good for construction of metal buildings. It could also be blast resistant.

Perhaps silver would become a falling block when it fully oxidizes.
