I completely disagree with diamonds being non-exposed to air in deep dark. Isn't the point of this update to balance spelunking with strip mining, and bring gameplay back to a once monotonous section of Minecraft? With this change, we go back to the less fun, less challenging, more tedious way of mining being the most efficient way of acquiring diamonds. I thought this update was supposed to address that design flaw, but now it's just embeleshing it.
If the goal is to make diamonds truly more difficult to acquire, they should be about overcoming challenge, rather than investing time. It should be the opposite, the easier method of strip mining should reward less diamonds, but it's safer and easier, for players that are unable to deal with the challenge of caving. Dealing with the challenging mobs that I am sure will be added, but getting more diamonds as a reward due to them being easier to spot and find makes sense, there's an element of risk versus reward, and good players can find diamonds faster than standard players, which even adresses the pvp side of minecraft, to an extent.
Please reconsider the generation of diamonds, as this update only adds artificial and unfun difficulty to diamond mining.
Thanks for reading and considering this change.
