I was about as excited for 1.17 as you can possibly be, the Caves&Cliffs update was going to fundamentally change everything and I'm ok with that; but I never thought that it would mess up the progression system this badly.
Iron and Copper here are the worst problem of them all. Iron is a fundamental part of the game's mechanics, the crafting tree and the game's mythical core progression. The change makes iron ores significantly harder to get, forcing players to go down to level 32 for a reliable source of iron; something that's specially dangeous considering that during the first steps of a survival, you're still using stone graded tools going down there. It makes things exceedingly hard and puts a proportionally huge challenge on one of the most important materials on the game.
Finally, copper's a shorter one: it's everywhere, but its usability doesn't manage to justify its frequency. Copper ore, as of now, is nearly useless, yet its frequency is unmatched. This brings a deep unbalance to the mining experience, and diminishes its satisfactory potential, which is a huge part of the aformentioned gameplay loop's enjoyability.
It is imperative that the changes are adjusted, as this fundamentally breaks the game's core progression, and brings a deep unbalance to the survival experience.
