Yes! I hope too! Maybe just give us option to switch to old opengl core devices! I think it should be possible given that we have been able to preview previous snapshots! I agree with you!

@Melly Dow i agree with you, i just think some players should be able to still play new features without the new graphics, and everyone else could use the new graphics and shaders.

OpenGL 3.2 is almost 10 years old. Getting this done took devs over a year, and everyone's been asking for the game to take up less of the CPU and more of the GPU; this is the only way to do it. Updating to 3.2 is already a huge compromise, seeing as there are better builds and even better APIs out there that released, like Vulkan. I'm sorry but as things get updated and more performance intensive, you need to upgrade your older rigs. Besides, support for OpenGL isn't hard to come by, and you'll have trouble playing in 1.17 release without at least something to keep up with the system requirements.

Indeed, the new 1.17 & 1.18 versions don't even seem to be using any of the features introduced by OpenGL 3.2 or 3.3?

I don't see why OpenGL 3.1 would be insufficient, much less why the graphics library isn't SELECTABLE.
