Currently, (pre 1.16 and below) we have coordinates as:
256 = Upper build limit
"62" = Sea/Ocean level
0 = Lower limit/bedrock.
This is all numbers that kinda makes sense, but the new 1.17 coordinates, for reference:
320 = Upper build limit
"62" = Sea/Ocean level
0 = Somewhere in the middle of the ground, nothing significant
-64 = Lower limit/bedrock
...doesn't make as much sense.
Wouldn't it be better sticking with 256 as build height, and then use the same "Zero" altitude reference as in the actual "real" world... Sea level! This would mean a tiny tweak (by 2 blocks) to relative sea/ocean level, and imply that everything in the negative Z's is below sea level/ground. In summary:
256 = Upper build limit
0 = Sea/Ocean level
-128 = Lower limit/bedrock.
This just... makes more sense. The way you implemented the additional vertical space in the coordinate space surprised me. The suggestion above is more in line with what one would expect.
