Mojang seems to be confused about mining, judging by information related to the most recent 1.17 snapshots. While, yes, a big part of the issue is that mining is an incredibly boring task, the core issue about it is its tediousness. Mojang, it takes forever to mine. Swapping around ore generation isn't going to fix that. We need drills, or at least craftable gun powder to blast it away quickly. Resource gathering isn't fun in its current state; Nay, it's a chore. This is why SciCraft has taken to automating everything (through methods which aren't even available to the Bedrock Edition of the game).
Another huge flaw I'm seeing is the larger caves requiring night vision potions to see through the darkness... Which counts peaceful players out of enjoying the caves because they can't craft potions. Doubling back to requiring drills on this subject: Peaceful players cannot obtain a beacon, either, so they can't get Haste 2.
Not everything has to be an absolute grind fest, Mojang. Please, Mojang... Take your time with this update and fix these huge, glaring flaws. For years now I have questioned this very simple thing: Why is it that I can craft magical enchantments for weapons, construct interdimensional portals, and slap on a pair of wings then proceed to soar over the landscape... But I can't get a drill or even easily accessible gun powder? It makes no sense.
