Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

We definitely need a way to make sand renewable. This is especially needed on bedrock where TNT dupers aren't able to be made, so you have a much smaller availability of sand for large scale uses of TNT such as building perimeters for efficient farms. I've seen suggestions from videos to have the Husk drop sand which could be pretty interesting. I don't think dropping an anvil onto blocks is a very practical way to make sand due to the large amount of iron involved and how quickly anvils break.

Since sand has a lot of silica in it, and quartz is a silicon crystal - What if you could crush quartz to sand and amethyst shards to red sand? Both quartz and amethyst shards are renewable (block of quartz can be bought from stonecutter and amethyst shards can be grown).

I hate tearing down desserts leaving a hideous landscape behind so I fully agree. Here are my top ideas of how to implement this:
    1. HUSKS drop dust, that can be crafted into sand blocks (maybe 2x2 crafting like honey)
    2. GRAVEL can be processed into sand for example by running flowing water over it, or dropping it onto copper grates/ sifting it
    3. the TRIAL VAULTs give you sand when you open them more than once (that would also solve the problem of overflow keys if you enjoy fighting the trial chambers a lot, but cant expand your world any more)
    4. some new mechanics with STONE were by processing it you get dust that can be crafted into sand. There are many options of how to do that, but I think the other 2 options are better

Or at least make deserts have deeper sand layers

I see everyone's comments and ideas for how to make renewable sand. For the most part they are good.

I did some researching and yes, sand has quartz (silica) in it, but it also has feldspar¹ which contains Potassium and Calcium. Yellow sand also known as beach sand, also contains some elements of iron oxide, which gives it different hues of color.

So I propse the crafting recipe be:
One iron ingot - representing Iron Oxide.
One of either potato or poisonous potato - representing Potassium.
    One bonemeal - representing calcium.
And one Nether Quartz - representing the Silica.
