you could use the new 1.18 pots and with a fire underneath  put vegetables meat in as well as spice flowers/seeds/leaves and you could make different types of stew/soup

this could also be the only way to cook already in the game stew/soups eg. rabbit stew/beetroot soup

Yess, lets call it the “Cooking Cauldrons” update. This can also allow for mushrooms to be edible and cookable as well. Brown mushrooms and red mushrooms can be cooked and mixed in cauldrons. Wild brown mushrooms can fill 0.5 hunger, while cooked ones can fill 1.5 hunger, all with no side effects. Wild red mushrooms can fill the same amount of hunger as wild brown ones but hunger increases every other mushroom or every 2, with the side effect of poisoning for every 1. Cooked wild red mushrooms can give 1.5 saturation with a side effect of nausea. Base stews such as mushroom, beetroot, and rabbit stew (with cooked rabbit and mushrooms) can be made at a crafting table using bottled water. The exact same thing can be done in a cauldron with a active campfire, magma block, or lava beneath it for more stew output efficiency. (Raw rabbit can be used inside cauldrons).
