Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Ripes should only be attachable to hooks. Tripwire hooks could be made to attach to any surface

If you have enough ropes to reach a hook, you can click on the hook and the ropes will attach you to it like a lead. If you push shift and move away from the hook it would extend the rope, if you push shift and stand still you would pick up any slack, and if you push shift and move towards the hook you would pick up the rope

I thought it would be interesting if you could press "Q" and drop a coil of rope as a falling block. If attached to a hook the block would fall and get shorter as it uncoils

Ropes (and possibly chains) may be able to be crafted into a coil, which would have a hole in the center like cauldrons or composters. There would be different layers like snow, which would represent how much rope is in the block. Ropes would also be able to be connected to this block

Dispensers could also dispense ropes. I think when activated they extend and when off they retract. They may stop extending rope if the rope hits a block, although extra rope could just form a coil on the ground

I had the idea that droppers would drop all of the ropes at once in the form of a coil, which may fall faster than extending ropes. Droppers may just drop rope items, but if they are facing a hook they may attach the ropes to it and then drop it has a falling block

Ropes may be attached to blocks to make them entities that can swing. They may break physics a bit as I don't think they would tilt very much, otherwise they could be used to make sideways blocks

When ropes are mined they should fray. They may be broken instantly by swords and axes

Pulleys may be added, although they could just be repurposed grindstones. Alternatively, hooks could just be used to alter the ropes direction

Actually, when ropes are attached to hooks by simply clicking they should just attach the rope to the hook but not to the player. Continuously clicking the rope would make the rope longer. Shift clicking a hook would be what attaches the rope to both the hook and the player

TBH, I'm not sure how players would be able to attach and detach themselves to the rope. I think that shift should be used to un/wind rope and slide down it, and space would be used to ascend hanging rope. Clicking could be used to attach youself, but I still don't know about detaching yourself

I was thinking that perhaps the forward and backwards keys could be used for going uo and down, but I also wanted those keys to be used to make the rope sway.

To make crates a more unique block, they may be the only container that is able to be transported by rope

There should be a Rope and Arrow item, with the arrow acting as a hook. It would attach itself to the player when shot and take rope items to extend itself. If it runs out of rope before it hits something it woulf just detach itself from the player

Kinda niche but I imagine that swinging from ropes would give sculk sensors the same redstone signal as mobs flying or flapping or whatever (wind rushing, basically). However, I don't think they would trigger sculk sensors when they are being extended or retracted

Tripwire hooks may emit a signal on how heavy an item attached to the rope is

Imagine creating a rope elevator using a dispenser that extends rope and another that picks it up, and then transfers the rope to the bottom to reuse. Could also be used to make a conveying system using crates

Knots in ropes may be where ropes are cut and then mended
