Then don't go there. Removing the mob because you don't like it would ruin it for others who do like it. If you simply never go to fight the Warden, your Minecraft would basically be the same as before

unpopular opinion, but I agree. especially the "turns the game more into a hide-and-seek horror" part.

the fact that the creator of the warden used to be a modder and constantly tweets about horror games gives off the impression that he forgot that he's supposed to be working on Minecraft and not a Horror game (and imo those get really generic bc most of them are just copy-and-paste mechanics but that's besides the point).

the warden seems fine for a mod for like a new dimension, but as part of the official vanilla game it feels so alien in its mechanics. not coherent at all with the rest of the game that's where all the monsters, while possibly challenging, are meant to be killed by the player.

You don't have to go to the deep dark biome if you don't want to

I'm just gonna say that enchanted diamond armor are probably going to help you, if that is still uncomforting, try strip mining.

Darknessfrog makes a point. You aren't required to go down in the deep dark. Plus Mojang wanted to add in a terrifying mob so of course it will feel like a hide-and-seek horror.

killergamer294 Someone at Mojang said the Warden will have a trick up its sleeve to stop this. Not sure what it is yet but it'll be interesting to see.

I appreciate the comments that have been left. Unfortunately, not getting to explore a key part of the game closes off a lot of exploration, which is something I enjoy in Minecraft. Adding the wardens turns the game into something other than what it has been up until this point. Minecraft is not and should not play as a horror game. I'm all for new mobs and new challenges, but adding an unkillable mob (according to Mjoang, they don't want players to be able to kill them) adds a level of frustration and blocks off future updates for players like myself. There are plenty of games to go to if you want challenge, stealth, and horror. Minecraft always appealed to me specifically because it WASN'T those things. That's not to say it's not somewhat challenging, but it's a breath of fresh air compared to other games.

No, the 1.17 caves are so cool. There needs to be a threat. I do however have an idea about a strategy for the warden not to hear you. What would happen is that you would be able to walk on wool, place it or anything like that and the warden could not hear you. Plus in my opinion the warden adds more to the lore of the game.

Honest. Minecraft makes me panic a lot! You are not alone. And not just about 1.17. It does not really scare me but it makes me panic a lot. If you've been playing you know what I mean. So mayb the warden is a bit of a change to minecrafts usual self. If you think about it though things like ghasts and soul sand valley are scary (kind of because its minecraft) because they have things to do with ghosts. The illagers seem to be very sinister and angry at villagers because of the way they attack and also the fact pillagers just appear in that kind of area (along with their towers). The woodland mansion is also pretty similar to the other too. Minecraft can be like that. Especially when you just start. The Warden is just another thing like that.

I strongly disagree. When I first play Minecraft, it was the fear and survival of the first night that got me interested. It was the dangers and challenges from exploring the world that makes exploring fun. I love this direction where Minecraft is going, with exciting powerful mobs that give me challenge, something to be scared of in the deep areas of the world. I actually want the Warden to be unkillable, so that it won't be just some random tough mob you farm for drops, but instead, something unique with unique mechanics.

Remember that if you just want to explore, you can turn on peaceful mode, or temporarily switch into easy mode if you want mob drops. Please don't ruin the fun out of other players who want challenging mobs.

I guess you dont go to the nether then right? Endless seas of lava and making water evaporate makes it unfair and doesnt fit with the theme of minecraft. Obviously nobody thinks like this. The deep dark is a choice to explore just like the nether is and if you stop obsessing over the fact that the warden is a mob then you will enjoy the feature more. The warden is intended to be a force of nature which is persistent not a sudden threat which you can easily* get rid of

I agree this getting out of hand.

Minecraft already has enough horror in it. herobrine creepy pasta, creepy cave sounds, sometimes dying without knowing what happened, losing all your stuff...

If you want a game where you run away from something feeling helpless go play fnaf or something

I want to build and craft things in the underground and not have to run away from some unkillable mob.

This also puts major griefing potential in the game for trolls

Also think of the children you might not realize it but young children get scared of things that you may think are fine.

Are we really going to put something like this in a game children play just to be creative?

If you want the warden to be hard to beat put yourself on hard difficulty

The 1.18 update and new terrain generation cuts down villages, desert temples and many more useful structures, and replaces them with oceans, so that is why I play on 1.17. I hoped that the 1.19 update would turn things round, but no, it makes them worse. Minecraft is a game where you are not ment to be spooked, and the warden defeats this rule. As well as this, it has the health of an enderdragon doubled and it is very hard to defeat. I play on peaceful and even though they don't spawn, players that want to challenge themselves to hardcore or hard difficulty, wont stand a chance against it, so the level for strip mining will be up to y level 5-9, which defeats the purpose of the deeper levels.

Top tip: Dont update the game to 1.19 and it is best if you go to 1.16 or 1.17

tbh "you don't have to go there" is a pretty rubbish argument.

When you have new content, the first thing you are thinking about is going there to explore it, especially ancient cities, which are pretty well made.

Cool if they want to have a strong monster, but dont make it absurdly strong (high attack, far melee reach and ranged attack) and nearly invincible (though I found out that it can get stuck in low spaces and take damage from being stuck inside block - some people will find ways to make warden farms, if they havent already).

The whole counter argument of "just don't go there" is so dumb. The mob literally is antithetical to the idea of minecraft's biggest component: exploration. Making an UNKILLABLE mob that literally forces people who don't want to deal with it to stop exploring is such a strange thing to implement in Minecraft and very out of character :/

People are commenting: “just don’t go there” but thats not the point. I don’t want this in my world at all. If there was an option to turn it off that’d be great. Love the idea of new biomes and the lush caves but what on earth is the warden supposed to do? The loot in the city is kind of trash too. Less risk and better look raiding end cities. All the warden and deep dark does is make mining more stressful. New biome and new wood? Yes. More stress mining diamonds? NO. Now if the city had a portal… and was post endgame… and another dimension? Cool but thats not what it is right now and it serves no positive purpose. Except the skulk sensors. The redstone implications are excellent.

do like I do: /gamerule doWardenSpawning false... and you have all the content minus one tiny thing: the warden. The peacefull argument is rubbish... peacefull as we all fully well know is the hardest game setting: no gunpowder or tnt... no potion brewing... no end-dimension as the stronghold becomes impossible to locate in-game, etc. etc. Just remove the warden if you don't like it. The gamerule settings are there to be used... this is a sandbox game.

To everyone that keeps saying, then just don't go there, your response is absolutely useless. Imagine if it was the other way around and only bedrock players could use a mob switch. I promise you'd be just as annoyed as us bedrockers. I'm not a keyboard guy whatsoever and the mods for using a controller on Java, and I mean all of them, are absolute garbage. The fact that there's any differences between the platforms is kinda the biggest pile of garbage ever. Why make a console version of the game if it's going to be so drastically different? It's just a tease. Like what? We're supposed to just avoid the biggest update the game has had in years all because it's completely different and 1000 times harder on bedrock than it is on java? What kind of response is that? A stupid one at best. The games should be 100% identical. And I often times think the devs completely disregard that minecraft is a sandbox game above everything else when they make patches or just choose to not implement exploits in bedrock that are the crowning jewels in java. At least make a 1-1 mod that allows console players to use a all system controllers compatible for Java. It's like we're being punished for preferring a controller over a massive and Cluny keyboard. All they did was divide a community that's supposed to be united. Bedrock version is like being on probation. You're legally not allowed to drink while you have to watch everyone else party and for some reason it's your fault.

Completely agree with OP. The warden is too strong, and not a good fit. It isn't even scary anymore, just annoying. "Don't go there" and "you're not meant to fight it" are cop out answers for a game that is directly centered around exploration. It seems most of the anti-warden posts I see are generally pretty well thought out, logical, reasonably written, etc. And the pro-warden posts are virtually all "git gud, lmao just don't go there, shift key, skill issue" etc. This thread which I am necroing is a perfect example.

The warden pretty much only exists because some people think it's cool and if you actually compile the facts, it is objectively a bad mechanic for this style of game.

I really need the warden mob for a custom survival Skywars Map.

Also you can kill the warden using a sword, lava, netherite Armor, and stacks of Enchanted gold Apples.

EDIT: removed bug post link, as it has since been fixed.

I completely understand what you're saying about the Warden. Sometimes it can make exploration feel more frustrating than fun. Perhaps some servers in ZonaMinecraft have adjusted their behavior to balance it better - it's worth checking them out if you're looking for a different experience!
