Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

It wouldnt work very well people wouldnt be able to tell the difference between blocks and would remove the aspect of having to make differnt colored blocks for your builds you could just paint wood cyan and it would like like cyan concrete and nobody would now its wood until they see how long it takes the break the block.

i think this is a great idea because you could have wood on one side of the wall and a nice colour on the other side

It would be nice to be able to paint the inside of a wall of a house and not have it be the same on the outside.  Or paint the outside if you have the color of the inside.  Certain blocks could be painted like wood, concrete or stone, but not dirt, sand, concrete powder, etc.

Painting blocks would also eliminate the need for vertical/standing/upright slabs as others have requested.  This would solve that desire on some level.

The look of the block wouldn't change, just the color of it.  If you know how to tell the difference between wood, stone and concrete then the pattern would still be present.

May I add: I think that the paint eventually begins to wear off after a period of time--rain can speed this up, but this can be prevented by waxing the paint like copper in 1.17. Paint can be stored in a cauldron, and a new brush item can be made

I think we should use dye in a cauldron then use a bucket to remove the paint from the cauldron the we could use it on our walls and floors

I think either paint or wallpaper would be really nice, it could be made with dye, perhaps similar to banners?? But sometimes in a build it just doesn't work very well to have every wall be 2 blocks wide just so I can have some creative license with making different rooms different colours!!

I agree, they could be crafted from certain dyes and/or minerals :] I had wanted to craft my house in Minecraft, but then I realized the interior and exterior are two different colors, and I don’t want to make 2 block thick walls :T

a good idea would be to make panel blocks instead of paint so the scavenging for resources aspect isn't lost but paint sounds lovely tbh

Lets say I wanted to use white concrete on the outside of my house but I wanted a warmer feel on the inside. I’d say we could further expand the use of dye, iron buckets, etc etc to create paint buckets so we can paint the interior of the house. Like vines except you are able to place a block against it and it won’t break. It’ll just be one (or more) sides of a block with a certain color of paint! You could even use wheat or shear horses for paint brushes!

To avoid taking up block space on the painted wall, have a tool to scrape the block wanted to be painted, then paint over that scraped block. New textures could be added by scraping and painting so it would not look like the original block. Could also incorporate different patterns (like the glazed terracotta) with different colors or combinations of colours(like adding stained glass to beacons)? Not sure if that messes with paint not using a different block?

Exactly what I was thinking, so glad I’m not the only one who though about it!
