It could also be sprinkled on blocks to stop plant growth until the block is either dug up and put back down (equivalent to turning over the dirt) or washed to flush out the salt.

Maybe salt could be used in cooking recipes to increase the nutritional value of meat and vegetables.

Let's add a simple, vanilla-friendly way to upgrade food using Ocean biomes: Salt!
    1. Gathering Salt
Players scoop up water from an Ocean biome using a Glass Bottle or Bucket. Placing it into a Furnace, Smoker, or Campfire boils the water away, leaving behind a "Salt" item.
    2. Seasoning Food
In a crafting grid, combine Salt with any cooked food (like Cooked Beef, Cooked Porkchop, Baked Potato, or Dried Kelp) to create a "Salted" version of that food.
    3. The Benefits
Eating Salted food rewards the player by replenishing more Hunger shanks and significantly boosting the food's Saturation value. This gives players a great reason to set up ocean-side bases and makes exploring for longer periods much easier, also, we can add a feature to sprinkle salt to keep undead mobs out of there, and also kill them if they touch it, making farms much easier
