Imagine if Bedrock and Java merged, it would be drastic and have some disadvantages like invalidating old mods but the benefits would be tremendous for all parts of the community:
For bedrock players
Better Redstone.
better servers
ability to follow java youtube tutorials.
more mods
ability to download and play worlds like Hermitcraft.
better shaders.
better command block commands.
hardcore mode, spectator mode, amplified worlds
For java players
better play optimization.
less lag
smoother gameplay
ability to play RTX.
easier use of add-ons/mods.
higher render distance.
movable tile entities.
ability to get DLCs on marketplace.
for Mojang
crossplay will be available, meaning java players will encourage low-income friends or friends without PC to buy mobile/PS4/xbox/switch version to play with them.
the entire java community will have access to the marketplace, meaning more profits for Mojang.
less work for more updates, meaning Mojang can spend less money and make better updates for a unified community.
For Devs
rather than having a divided team working in 2 different versions and languages, devs can focus on one version and get in better updates in less time.
For modders, you will be able to have more users on your mod and more donators because of the larger community.
You will also be able to place your work on marketplace.
For everybody
Crossplay helps everyone. From players to mods to companies.
