If you spend lots of time inside a jungle or swamp biome, you will notice that the vines hanging from the canopy of trees will not stop growing until they reach the ground. This makes the trees appear quite ugly and crowded after a while. This is most problematic in the jungle biome since vines also slow you down when you are inside them, and it's likely lots of vines will be on the ground level after you've spent lots of time living in the jungle.
Therefore, I suggest that vines get an age value, similar to the nether vines and kelp. How it can work is when a vine is generated or placed, it is given a random age between 0 and 24, just like kelp. Any vines that grow from that vine has their age increased by 1, then any growing from those increase their age by 1, and so on. This keeps going until age 25, when it stops growing, just like the nether vines and kelp. When vines are generated in the world, they are given a random age around 15 so the vines don't grow incredibly long after a while inside the jungle and swamp.
