Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

If you had it where a key is required, this would be perfect for adventure maps.

Could it be broken though becasue that’s broken if you can have a locked chest. It would need balancing

It can work like a shulker box, so if you break it all of the contents will still be inside

I think that when mined with an iron pickaxe or better, it drops itself with its contents inside. Otherwise it is indestructible. It would also be really cool to add it to some generated structure, where you have to separately find the box and the key (or maybe passcode?) to unlock it, so it could contain really good loot.

Maybe villages could have one, and the villagers would trade you the key as a master level trade.

I like your idea, but I think that you should ditch the idea about “only the owner can access the chest”. I think there should be locks and keys made of iron or maybe copper, and it didn’t depend on the player, just if you had it or not.

A key could be linked to a certain chest. You could have a key item but not have it assigned to a chest. The locked chest will accustom to the key.

If you ever lost the key for the locked chest, you could try prying it open with weapons, and this could consume durability.

Perhaps everyone can get into it IF they had a key or password for it. Otherwise, having it completely locked out to others may make it a bit less fun and too similar to an end chest.

I think this is too similar to what ender chests already do. I also think iron chests should function like iron doors and iron trapdoors, which would only be accessible when given a redstone signal. I think locked chests should store items like regular chests, but require a key to be opened, and also be magical or really tough in some way so that its unbreakable or can only be broken with certain tools. Locked chests should drop their contents when broken, so they don't copy what shulker boxes do. This could be the function for the gold chest or diamond chest, maybe.
