Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I love this idea! Apparently, you and me are thinking alike, because a while later, I had the same idea. I didn't realize you thought of it first, but here is a quote from my suggestion "Sometimes when starting a new Minecraft world, nether fortresses are very difficult to find and other times they are relatively easy to find. It's almost like there's a 50% chance you'll find one only after a ton of digging, and a 50% chance it will pretty much be there. I feel that it is important to at least give players a way "out" so to speak by crafting some kind of locator. It could be expensive to craft, but the materials should still be accessible, probably from materials in the nether such as quartz, gold, and maybe some other more expensive materials. I think a simple way to do this would be to have a nether compass which points to the nearest nether fortress. To ensure that people can't craft one and use it forever, I think the compass should remember the coordinates of the nearest fortress as soon as it's first held. After that, it will stop searching for new nether fortresses and you will only be able to use that compass to find that fortress. Thanks for considering this idea! :)" I think this would be very cool and should definitely be added to the nether update!

With the addition of Piglin Bartering, perhaps they could have this as a trade?

This should make use of lodestone compasses and lodestones in the structures, with piglins bartering the connected compass

Yeah, I usually just look up where it is for the seed I'm using.

Finding a nether fortress is arguably the most disheartening and mundane portion of the Minecraft journey.

We have Eyes of Ender for finding the strongholds, why not have something to locate fortresses? A map of some kind makes the most sense to go along with the "lore" in Minecraft.

The map doesn't even have to lead directly to a fortress it could just highlight a region where one is so as to still give a sense of mystery and exploration as to the exact location.

Fortresses are simply too rare to not have some way of locating them somewhat easier.

It could be as simple as a rare drop from Piglins. Better yet, why not barter a very specific item to potentially get the map to a fortress from a Piglin?

Finding a fortress in the nether should not "require" the use of F3, a web-service to look up a chunk where one is located, or mindlessly wandering for extremely extended periods of time.

This small addition could expand the Minecraft journey quite a bit in entertainment for what would be getting added.

This item should totally be added to the game! I've never gotten to a nether fortress in survival, without using cheats, and I would agree that it is a very long and mundane task to find them. Just like you use the Eyes of Ender to find the End Portal, we should definitely have an item to help find the nether fortresses.

I think it could be like an Ender Eye, but crafted with Breeze Rods instead of Blaze Powder. Or, if that'd be too intrusive, maybe Piglins could sometimes give out compasses that come pre-attached to lodestones, and the lodestones are already inside the fortresses?
