So, my suggestion is to make the "Hero of the Village" effect permanent in the village it was activated, tough the gift items should only apply for a set amount of time. After that they still give you discounts but no more free items. Also maybe, just maybe some special events after you gained the status effect to make it actually worthwhile to do a Raid (for example exclusive Quests, like expanding the village with building a blueprint making defences etc. or slay x amount of monsters). Eventually you will become the ruler of the village and the effect will be replaced with a effect called "Ruler of the village" where you get the ability to build defences, growing population and expanding the city even more. There will be many blueprints given out during quests which will help you build stuff (the blueprint when placed will show transparent blocks and you have to fill the gaps with the type of block shown) And when you are mayor you can negotiate contracts with other villages and collect taxes from the citizens.
