Make the Smithing Table an alternative to Mending enchantment.
- It will not affect the existing enchantments of the item. This means that existing enchantments remain unchanged after the item has been repaired.
- Enchanted Books cannot be used as input. This function has been implemented by the Anvil.
- Does not increase the Prior Work penalty of the item. Unlike anvils, the use of a Smithing Table to repair the durability of an item does not increase the prior work penalty, so items can be repaired in an unlimited number of times with sufficient material.
There are three options for the cost of repairing a item:
- Similar to an Anvil, using the same kind of item or the material needed to make the item. It should be noted that the repair process of the Smithing Table needs to follow the limitations of the above working methods. This means that enchantments of sacrificed item will not combine to the repaired item.
- Similar to the Mending enchantment, the experience points corresponding to the durability that needs to restore has been consumed.
- Similar to the Enchanting Table. Different levels of experience point are consumed for items of varying degrees of damage. For example, the durability range that needs to be supplemented is 1% to 25% consumes 1 level of experience point, 26% to 50% consumes 2 levels, 51% to 75% consumes 3 levels, and 76% to 100% consumes 4 levels.
After adding the above functions to the Smithing Table, a complete operation flow can be formed - item manufacturing (Crafting Table), item enchantment (Enchanting Table), combining enchantment (Anvil), repairing durability (Smithing Table), removing enchantment (Grindstone).
Obviously, Mending enchantment is a better choice, but it is harder to obtain as a treasure enchantment. The use of Smithing Table is a bit more troublesome, but it can be used as an effective alternative when there is no Mending enchantment.
Finally, the scenario described in this article does not need to add any new items or blocks to make it easier to implement.
