WHAT - Allow users to imbue leather armor with potion effects, or resistance to such effects.
HOW - In the bedrock editions, leather armor is dyed by dipping it in colored water in a cauldron. Likewise, You can imbue arrows by instead putting a potion into the cauldron. Simply put, 'dipping' a piece of leather armor in a potion should do one of two things:
- provide resistance to the potion effect.
- provide the status effect for the duration the user wears it, and the accompanying particles.
Once a piece has been dipped, it should remove any and all enchantments, and become both unenchantable and irreparable at an anvil. As leather armor's durability is low, this forces the armor to have minimal long-term use, and forces it to break. Only one imbued effect or resistance can be applied to a piece at once. Dying the armor afterwards would not change or remove the effect.
WHY - Leather armor is tedious to get and far worse than iron armor. Giving it this buff would allow for more interesting decisions and a viable reason to use the set. (E.G., More defense, or better speed?; Resistance to poison, or fire resistance enchantment)
Of course, certain exceptions would be made to individual pieces and effects. For instance, You shouldn't be able to imbue a leather piece with water breathing, as that would negate the purpose of the turtle shell. But this would be interesting for minigames, custom maps, and even creative mode.
I would prefer imbuing the armors as opposed to resistance, as that would breed creativity, but the latter feels more balanced and unexplored. To be honest, I would appreciate if any compatibility between potions and leather armor was introduced. Thanks.
