this is great, colors allow map creators to design areas with much more aesthetic, wanna make something creepy? complete dark/muffled light is all you got, but imagine being able to pick cactus green or red. i can already imagine the graphical issues/ glitches with this idea, but i think it adds so much in terms of map creation and base customization (a blue light for your fish tank, pink lights for a softer/calmer bedroom) i think makes it worthwhile.

Holy heck! I've been wanting colored lights for the longest time! Mojang get to it! XD But for real take time to think about this!

Yes please! Just imagine, orange street lights for a dark, run-down part of a city, or bright blue neon signs, or glowing crystals in caves with every color imaginable!

To go up against Hytale, this would be a key element in going up against them. A full re-write of the light engine Minecraft currently holds. More information here:

I'm bringing this up from the dead, because I feel like it might have been forgotten. With lanterns already in place, I think it'd be best to have a solid base before we dive in too deep and have to go back to do things the right way.

The coloured lights would be a fantastic idea. I would like to be able to change the glowstone and torch colours. Maybe be as simple as combining the torch with a dye to get the desired colour change. These would be great for the asthetics side (i.e. being able to fully duplicate an airport, with their red, green, amber, blue lights etc.)

Image if we would be able to interact with sealanterns or redstone lamps the same way as with sheep (color them directly with a dye) and automate this with e.g. dispensers. This would make it able to create color-coded redstone inditators or fancy disco lighting :)

Combining redstone lamps with dyes or colored glass could give 16 types of colored lamps!

I just realized there is already a post for colored redstone lamps!

It's a great idea, consider mobs being effected by some sort of lights

Yes, having colored light would be a really nice addition to Minecraft, my only concern is if this would affect performance significantly or cause visual glitches, but if that isn't the case, I would really like if this was added to the game

I agree! I have thought of this detail for a long time, Considering I love Building and I would like to need more colored Lighting to my Builds to create a different atmosphere instead of plain white/dull lighting. I hope this gets added to either the new update (1.16) or Later on. __Logan
