Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Yes please! thank you, friend. You may not be aware of this, but I posted a similar idea several months ago, and after gaining much popularity it got removed because they added the Grindstone and the Stonecutter into the game (my post was named "block grinder"). I hope this post gains sucess! I was about to re-post my idea before I saw this. Did you get the idea from the same place I did? (Logdotzip's command thing that adds new mobs and blocks)

I am not familiar with most mods, the idea came from wanting to make mining in vanilla more useful. 🙂

I agree, this would greatly reduce the destruction of biome landscapes, I hate having all my nearby deserts reduced to nothing due to my excessive use of glass, however I think that this idea needs a slight amendment

using regular stone in the stone crusher gets you cobblestone

using cobblestone in it gets you gravel

using sandstone in it gets you sand

    Terracotta gets clay

Stone crusher should use fuel (coal, charcoal, bamboo, kelp, etc) for powering the device, and should not have a durability like the anvil does

I'd also like to see some way for us to make Granite(maybe combine gravel, sand, stone), Diorite and Andesite

I totally agree with this, you can already convert 4 sand to sandstone, why not backwards? I hate having to destory deserts for glass or concrete.

I desperately need this. I was about to make the exact same suggestion.

Plan to add this mechanic to my mod. Stone types, stairs slabs and walls to gravel, which can be cobbled and made into new stone types. 5 sandstone types (yellow, red, blue, soul stone and white) back to corresponding sand.

Definitely.  I just... I need a renewable source of sand.  (and no, wandering traders don't count!)

I'm thinking have it be a Furnace system, maybe.  So it requires fuel, if it can do the hopper thing.  Could do it like how the Blast Furnace and Smoker are 'upgrades' of the regular furnace- this could be an 'upgrade' of the Grindstone or Stonecutter.

But yeah.  Stone to Cobble (and deepslate to cobbled deepslate), cobble to gravel, gravel to sand.  Sandstone to sand, bricks and terracottas to clay, concrete to powder.

Since we now have renewable clay via mud and dirt, I think this should be the Stone Crusher's functions:

Any stone items (slabs, stairs, walls, stone, chiseled stone, stone bricks, etc) can be ground into Cobblestone (perhaps not slabs since it would be OP, but you could have a gauge like fuel which would require 2 slabs to grind into a single block of cobble).

Cobble (and cobble variants and stairs/slabs/walls) could be ground into gravel.

Gravel can be ground into sand.

Sandstone created items could be ground back into sand.

Red sandstone items can be ground back into red sand.

Terra Cotta could be ground into red sand (since clay doesn't really make sense and this gives an alternate way of getting red sand).

Concrete could be ground back into powdered concrete (or perhaps it grinds into gravel and sand).
