The Noteblock is a very old block and it allows players to add music to their redstone creations. That being said, using Noteblocks can be very limiting and frustrating. Let's start with the first issue.
The pitch of a noteblock can be changed by right clicking it, increasing its pitch by half step from F#. However, you never get to see what note you're actually on, and you can easily overshoot the note you wanted to play. It would be a much better system if noteblocks had a GUI, which allowed you to select notes on a piano keyboard. This way, setting up music would take way less time than it does right now.
Another issue is that the sounds emitted from a noteblock all have the same duration. This prevents players from making intresting compositions. This issue, again, has a simple fix. In the same GUI the player selects the note from, there could be a selector for how long a note lasts.
