Maybe it only works with a few potions like invisibility, fire resistance, night vision but not with strength, healing, all weakness and poison potions and water breathing. This would make it less overpowered. It would fill every slot except the helmet slot but the cloak has an optional hood that you can pull up. You also have the option to equip or remove the boots section of the cloak in place of boot armour. If the cloak is soaked in invisibility potion, for example, if you’re not wearing the hood, mobs and players can see a floating head. They would still target you. Wearing the hood makes you completely invisible. The same happens with fire resistance. Without the hood, or the cloak covering your feet, if your head or feet touches lava or fire, you take fire damage. Although it would fill up all armour slots, the cloak does not give you additional protection. Wearing it gives you the same defence as wearing no armour. It can be soaked many times but only one potion effect stays on the cloak. There could also be an achievement called ‘I’ll get me cloak’. I hope you like my extra suggestions for this interesting idea. I also hope this makes sense

How about if we say that the cloak goes in your chestplate spot and also visually covers the other slots, disabling them. You would loose all of your defence, but you could still see your armour, as well as gaining whatever effect you enchanted it with, so to speak. I think this would be a good trade-off, and might even bring a solution to allow potions in couldrons in Java Edition. Just an idea, please feel free to comment if you feel that this is in any way off, or if I'm forgetting anything.

Note - this is too op UNLESS the potion effects only last for as long as the typical potion does. Then you have to reapply the potion. Also, these cloaks should have durability like armor and tools since it is now a tool.

It should use a leather tunic and eight potions with the chosen effect to craft.

I don't see how this is op. I mean they should 100% prevent tier 2 potions from being applied to it, but I think however it's kind of like the elytra. Where the elytra offers no defense, but it allows you to fly so fast. This offers no defense, but allows you to have a potion affect. Regen isn't actually too insane in pvp. However I think there should be 1 limit. The potion affects only last a total of 1 minecraft day on your cloak.

This is a great idea! I think that cloaks remind me of magic or fantasy so I think it is a good idea to put potions on them. Although I think that infinite of any potion effect is a bit OP so maybe the potion effect should not be activated as long as the cloak is on so maybe the potion effect should be like a power up you can activate every now and again for example you get a short burst in speed after you click a button and then it’s on cooldown.
