When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. Inverted Hoppers

The crafting recipe would be similar to that of a hopper, except the shape the iron is upside-down and the chest is a dropper.  The result of the recipe looks like an upside-down hopper and has the same kind of inventory as a normal hopper.

The inverted hopper, when powered, would pull items out of an inventory below it and push items upwards into an inventory above it.  Like a hopper, the output can be directed in different directions depending on how it is placed.

A powered inverted hopper would also absorb item entities from a block of air or water below it.

    So is this basically a hopper, but upside-down and with inverted responses to redstone power? Interesting. I assume this would work with your previous item tube idea?

    It was actually born from posting the item tube idea on the minecraft discord and talking about other options.  I mostly volunteered to put the pieces together and post it here. x3

    I think it would work well with item tubes, and might cause them to not have the ability to transport items upwards.  Although it is an entirely self contained idea as well.

    Why not just allow for normal hoppers to be placed facing upwards? This would also allow them to suck item from blocks below and keep the functionality we know of existing hoppers (i.e. powered hopper is disabled).

    Good idea but there should also be a hopper that looks like two stuck together by the tops and it would act as a basic pipe

    I don't think it should be powered. It should simply act the same way as a normal hopper, just upside down.

    This would make most of my Evoker farms so much easier than getting magma blocks from underneath the sea, or in the Nether, than harvesting all of the sand for glass, and getting packed ice to make a water tube that brings it up and across to the other hoppers that then put it in the chest.

     

    (Btw I use water to put the items in the first hopper which puts it in a zero tic dispenser which shoots it into the water tube. It works well but this idea is the best!)

    I'd like to say, to a lot of people in the comments, that we in fact do have droppers and dispensers. However, they need a redstone *pulse* to work, not a constant signal. You can't stick a level on a dropper and it'll automatically push all items up. I assume an inverse (or just upside-down) hopper would be constantly active, like a hopper. It'd make transporting items upwards much easier than it is right now.

    Well... gravity. It should need a power source because how would an item from a chest be sucked by an unpowered machine on top of it.

    Good idea, but I think a new item for this purpose would be more tedious, maybe instead tweaking the functionality of the hopper would be better?

    Just use a line of droppers facing upwards and connect them to clocks (on MC Bedrock and PE) and BAM!

    Adam Sirkis Far from it. Droppers need redstone clocks, causing unnecessary lag. If a constantly powered dropper would spit out any items then that would also be a good alternative.
