How about having a dragon of your own? in any sizes (dog size dragon or Ender dragon size) watching them grow from a baby hatchling to an adult, including with its own elemental powers, and where you have to find it specifically like; water dragons will be in the sea in temples, fire dragons at the volcanos or dungeons, earth dragons at the forests/jungle temples, nether dragons at the netherworld, cave dragons at the caves or abandoned mines, etc. they should also have the distinct color and design of their elemental powers.

I'd support this as a graphical concept, basically as a pet that looked super cool, but I suspect their interaction with the world in therform of 'powers' would be highly problematic and have a staggering list of unintended consequences.
How about making a spawn eggs for dragons as pets and the stuff to ride, tame, and play with.
Lol notch trolled us with da red dragon hopefully ms looks at this and fianally adds in in.
Perhaps it would be mainly visual (the powers like frost breath just being blue fire or something like that but have weakness's and restistence to stuff depending on where they hatch instead of being found. Maybe you could breed dragons to get eggs too? All right last thing in this very very disorganized comment perhaps they could be as tall as a horse and 4 blocks wide.
I think you should be able to hatch the dragon egg, and raise a dragon from the size of an ocelot to about the size of the wither. It would have five sizes: ocelot, wolf, cow, horse, wither.
It would get stronger with every size it grows it would get stronger, dealing more damage and with more health.
yes but really hard to keep as pets. you would constantly have to feed it something special or put it in line so that it follows commands: like letting you ride it.
I was thinking more like mods and dragons like for example how to train your dragon add some of those types of dragons please thanks.
Yes, i have liked dragons ever since i was a little girl (yes, i am a girl) and have downloaded Addons and mods for dragons but they are sometimes hard to download so i think it would be easier to just have them in the game already.
Ooooh But they would be guarded BY THE MAMA DRAGON ! Epic boss fight alert!
The ability to control a pet dragon's powers is nice.
Pet dragons are among the things I most want to see in Minecraft, so I upvoted. Still, I would hope they are relatively small and not overly powerful, even if they are rideable as adults. That way they won't be overpowered.
What if the Ravager have a tiny probability to drops a special saddle that only you can use on a dragon baby which you have to wait too many days (calendar days) to grow up?
Each biome could have specific breeds of dragon that could be caught and tamed using various methods specific to the breed you are looking to obtain as a buddy/pet.
For example; A blizzard dragon only found in Arctic tundra biomes that only spawns during a certain time of day or night and can only be tamed with fish, or maybe you need to arrange a certain type of block like say maybe Blue Ice in a pattern or structure that in turn allows you to summon/spawn it in order to fight/tame it.
Or a dragon that can only be found during thunder storms?
Some more common dragons could spawn like any other mob in their respective biomes, but other more uncommon breeds require the player to complete certain tasks specific to that breed. The Ender Dragon could be a Legendary you have a chance to obtain for completing The End, giving players a common goal to work towards.
I'd rather have "Tameable Dragons" than "Pet Dragons".
Though, if you bred two Tamed Dragons together, you should be able to get a Baby Tamed Dragon from it.
STILL, The Dragon Concept needs fleshing out more. What do they look like/how do they act/what do they drop/etc.Absolutely. I think Minecraft would be SO much more awesome if I could fly on a dragon that could breathe fire and again, that would just be AWESOME!
Ditch the elemental part and I’ all for it
Also, maybe fly!
I want a Fire Dragon!
I can’t get my pet dragon from the ender dragon egg
Mojang really need to add that feature, we’ve had the dragon egg have no use for too long

They can start off wild & neutral, but defensive. You could tame one & fly on it for 2x sprinting speed. A Chinese dragon for the mountains, a Serpent for the seas, an ice breathing blue dragon in snowy biomes, a fire breathing dragon near big pools of lava. They'll live in caves, but aggressive supersized ones will live in abandoned forts surrounded in treasure. They eat cows & horses & pandas & dolphins.
this is basically Dragon mounts mod XD tho would be nice I think ice and fire dragons or much nicer looking

It would be awesome if you could hatch the ender dragon egg that you get from killing the ender dragon. Right now the egg is pretty much useless except for decoration, aka Grian's lamp...
DARKELFX has a point, but it can easily be fixed make the dragons neutral mobs, but make them protective of their nests, make them pack animals but the alpha is different from the others like the alpha can be bigger and have horns but the others are slightly smaller and do not have horns, make the chances of taming an alpha extremely hard, add a potion that makes you undetectable to dragons and add a different armour set that can be crafted from different dragon type skins

I disagree with the elemental part. The dragon egg should just hatch into an ender dragon. I support the idea of pet dragons however this can potentially be overpowered. I have some ideas on how to balance this.
Obviously the pet dragon would have to be made much weaker than the ender dragon and should probably be smaller, but they could also make the egg difficult to hatch to make the process of owning a dragon harder. Maybe the dragon will start out hostile when it first hatches and you must feed it something (maybe something found in the end city?) to tame it. The dragon should also be difficult to keep tamed. They could give the dragon a "happiness" scale that goes up by one every time you feed it. If its happiness is 0 the dragon will be hostile and not tamed, if its happiness is 1 the dragon will be passive towards the player, if its happiness is 2 the dragon can be enabled to follow the player like a wolf, if its happiness is 3 the dragon will attack mobs for the player like a wolf, and if its happiness is 4 it will let you ride it, if a saddle is equipped. Its happiness can be constantly diminishing over time, maybe go down one point every day? So, you must constantly feed it so that it remains tamed. If it reaches 0 then you will have to retame it. When flying on the dragon, it should have a stamina bar that determines how long you can stay in the air. When it runs out the dragon falls to the ground and you will be able to fly again once the stamina bar replenishes. Also I feel that the dragon shouldnt be particularly fast when walking on the land so that the purpose of a horse is not defeated.that is a great idea have been hoping for a dragon update in ages but never happened
lets fly.
I have been looking for something like this for some time and finally I have found one with some momentum. I seriously hope this is added. The already existent ender dragon model with perhaps some design tweaks other than just the skin and bam! Pet dragons. It would be even better if you could fly using a couple of the larger ones.
(Part 1) Actually ryan riccio, I think instead of feeding it all the time to keep it tamed, maybe a very large hunger bar may be a good idea. The dragon is ravenous and you have to feed it large amounts of food (meat only) to keep it up to strength. If the hunger bar reaches 0 after a couple of days the dragon will no longer be tamed. If hunger is below half, the dragon will be disobedient and constantly wander off to kill and eat an animal to try and keep it’s hunger bar up. Of course, if you just let it eat and don’t feed it yourself after say, 5 days, the dragon will no longer feel attached to you and will no longer be tamed. Attack damage, healing rate, damage resistance and speed may depend greatly upon the hunger bar. So to keep it at full strength you have to feed it almost constantly. If the dragon is big enough, then you may ride it so long as it is tamed, you can ride medium-ish dragons but they cannot fly as you wheigh them down too much, only larger dragons can carry you.
(Part 2) Wild dragons can be found but cannot be tamed, you must hatch an egg that you get by stealing from a wild adult dragon (either by killing it or taking the egg while the parent is hunting as the hunger mechanic is still there in wild dragons) then you must raise the dragon. It’s size and stats are dependent on it’s XP level, 1 being infant and 10 full grown. Of course the adult size may vary from species to species but when the dragon’s body is about the size of a horse’s then you may ride it like a horse. Once it is nearly full grown you may fly on it. Back to the hunger mechanic as it is a big part of how the dragon works. Their hunger bar gets bigger as they do for each level, they can get a tiny amount of XP from eating but it it is almost insignificant, you would have to have some serious patience and food supply to grow them by feeding them. They take halved XP from bottles so you will need a lot of them to do much. The main way of getting XP is from killing monsters. The rate at which the hunger bar decreases is reduced slightly as the dragon grows and the max hunger points increase making the dragon a little more manageable. It will kill thins for fun when young even if it is not hungry. It will require most of your attention to keep it fed properly and to level it up. Flying eats through hunger points very quickly and so is very inefficient if fast.
