Rather than emerald weapons/ armour being something that is craft-able, -which would be awkward enough as they are super rare and hard to come by when mining, but super easy to acquire when there are nearby villages, as well as generally not being a necessary upgrade when most players skip straight to diamond+ as soon as possible- emerald gear could be something found in villages.

Villagers are really due an update anyway, and perhaps giving them some more defence would work? Not only would it be better if emerald swords and stuff were something to be found not crafted, but also, i think it would make more sense if they had a specific ability compared to other weapons; for example, maybe they could do a BUNCH of damage on zombies but not much on other mobs, as villagers have beef with zombies in particular (since they can be zombified). giving emerald things a different ability would actually give them a purpose, and could add to the backstorys of villages.

Posts like this make me wish there was a downvote of some kind. Even if it didn't add to the overall score or was completely invisible, it would be nice for Mojang employees to see the negative responses to an idea as well

Gold Armour is already the flashy joke armour, Chainmail is already the rare niche armour, literally what would adding Emerald Gear bring to the table? Should Redstone Armour come next? How about Enderite?

The thing that irks me about this post is there is not a single justification for why this should exist other than "it would be cool". I see no possible reason to ever craft this, it seems impractical, pointless and makes it feel like any old material could become a new armour/tool set

Its position in the gear ranking is between Leather/Wood and Gold, which area literally already the two bottom tier gear sets in the game. Why add a new set as the second-to-bottom tier when most players already skip Leather and only make gold armour to deal with piglins

Wood tools serve a function, they are generally your starter items. Leather Armour is Dyeable. Gold Tools are much faster but much weaker. Gold Armour helps keep piglins off your back

The best I could see Emerald Armour doing is something with villagers, such as giving a discount. This is terrible. Villagers don't need additional buffs, and putting on a set of armour every time you want to trade is the stupidest thing

Character limit really holding me back, but this is too many votes just bcus "it would be cool."

I hear that. But the reason downvotes aren't a thing on this site is because Mojang doesn't want people discouraging ideas. That would not be constructive feedback according to them. Just check out their previously considered ideas, and the website section. It's in there, clear as crystal. Now that that is out of the way, I have an idea that might be controversial for this set. Maybe wearing this would prevent Illagers from attacking you, similar to how gold stop piglins from doing harm to you.

I understand that and I believe this is a completely fair take, however I still feel not having a downvote prevents the voices of people against an idea being heard, which are also often equally as valid. The ideal way I would see it implemented is something that only Mojang employees can see, and a note when downvoting saying something like "keep in mind votes are more important than downvotes", I just feel there should be some way that Mojang can see the general reception of an idea that doesn't just look at how many people like it and potentially miss out on a large group of people who might be against the idea

I am not saying Mojang should make a public dislike count or disqualify an idea for having a high dislike ratio or something, just something that Mojang can see and consider.

I also do get that this idea isn't perfect and could cause more issues than it's worth, I am just highlighting that I see an issue with low-quality suggestions like this one managing to garner 4.5k upvotes, some of the comments have passable suggestions and fair takes on ideas and suggestions, but the original post just says they think "it would be cool" to add a new bottom-tier of armour using a medium-to-high tier material to craft it

There are issues on this site that leads to problems such as these, and unfortunately I dont have enough knowledge or insight to know what kind of effective solutions could be implemented, I can only hope the site improves over time- which is likely

I don't think this is a good idea Emeralds are used as currency I also don't think it would be that useful

In my opinion, there shouldn't even be diamonds, let alone emeralds, considering that both are precious stones and not malleable metals, this doesn't make any sense. And before they say "Oh, but do you want to find logic in a square game?", But it's not about that, I just believe that there are acceptable limits to the suspension of disbelief, and that's not one of those limits when we consider that these things (emeralds, diamonds, and armor) exist in real life. What are the chances that you will create an emerald or diamond armor? Almost nil. Also, I like the idea of ores having their own functions. In addition to all that I said, there is also what others have said about it being just another Armor set that they will wear for a while and will be forgotten afterwards, it doesn't pay off. Anyway, this is my personal opinion, nothing against those who think differently, I just believe that it is not necessary.

should make emeralds more common if you add the armor and tools and add rubys

I personally think that they should be much stronger, but otherwise it is an AMAZING concept. Also, lapis, redstone, and maybe fire (crafted from fire charges or netherrack) would be good

I think I have a good spot for it's progression it can be slightly better than iron. Ok so an iron pickaxe mines a stone block in 0.5s, and diamond at 0.4s we can plop emerald at 0.45s. Iron tools durability: 250 Diamond: 1561. It's an insane gap I think multiple ores should have a place between it the harder they are to get. So I believe emerald should be the first spot post iron. 250*1.5 is 375 durability.

Explanation for it's place: Now there's a reason why I put it nearly on par with iron while it's hard to farm out in the wild. Once you find a farmer villager, cleric, or a librarian excepting paper it can get extremely easy. Now we just got copper tools, and it's kind of like an alternate weaker version of iron I find that cool that we have more gaps filled in. Since originally you went from 4 armor points to immediately past 14. This can be a cool alternative stronger, but not defensive wise.

It should be way stronger than wood. It should be at least as strong as iron.

Great idea and I also think it's a good thing that the armor is so bad, because otherwise it's far too easy to get good equipment through trading.

Um… well when you’re walking down the street do you happen to see people wearing coin armour? I don’t. So why are we saying we want emerald armour? This is such an overrated idea and I will be rather annoyed if this gets added…

I think that the Emerald gear should be about the same as iron gear. The two differences is that it has a toughness between iron and diamond; and it should have a weaker version of the enchantment luck gold has.

This would make Emerald gear at the same strength as Diamond gear the early game, but weaker than Diamond gear in the end game. This would be due to the fact that enchantments like protection go solely based on durability of the armor. Then of course armor, tools, and weapons will have that slightly better chance of getting a greater enchantment level.

In real life The durability of it would be closer to what its hardness level is in reality (7.5-8), and it’s also the color green, signifying luck.
