This would be incredible and make Minecraft Survival especially more realistic and enjoyable. And if players wanted to lock seasons like a day/night cycle they could opt-out. Weather has been something lacking in Minecraft for a long time.

Baby mobs would spawn in spring, less frequently at other times of year. Lambs and calves in spring.

Flowers in spring and summer. Crop growth halting in winter. Pumpkins popping up in autumn. Sweet berries more abundant in autumn. Apples more frequently drop in autumn.

Bees would stay inside their hives during winter.

Perhaps water would freeze but at a slow pace and only when next to a solid block and only at the top layer. That way, coastlines and small ponds would freeze first, ice could be harvested in winter and stored, and water could still be used for irrigation when found beneath ice.

Frogs could become trapped in ice (as they do in real life).

One day is 20 minutes, one month is 10 hours, and one year is 5 days in Minecraft. So every day and 6 hours in starting a world, a new season happens. and maybe have a season-telling item.

This addition would be amazing for immersion, particularly if it comes with the option to change how seasons cycle for different worlds and what seasons we can start in. I'd love to see a seasons overhaul also include new tools, building blocks and structure styles to help weather the elements.

We already have copper rods to help redirect lightning, just as one example currently in the live version. Different seasons produce different types of new foliage, block varieties, change up the type of mobs we can see, gives reason to add new mobs (like bears), add additional food and overhaul the current food system to add new cottage/survival themed functional blocks.

Other survival tools and functions could be tents, rainwater tanks that collect water on a larger scale compared to the cauldron, sleds to transverse across snow and villagers celebrating different festivals depending on the season and being able to collect seasonal trades from them for housing decoration or vanity armors.

For immersion, we could even collect bugs in jars throughout our travels, like fireflies and butterflies, to decorate our bases.

Making it a setting would also make it that less experienced players could easilier get a hang of the game.

Seasons in my opinion never belong in Minecraft, and if they ever do add it then it needs to be a gamerule you can turn off so it doesn't effect you. I don't see Minecraft as a survival game ANYMORE. Id say back in the beta days it was but now its clearly way more of an open ended sandbox building game where you can do whatever. I think seasons more so belong in a survival type game.

I keep trying to post this as an idea but the website won't let me due to it being too similar so here it is:

Minecraft doesn't need physical weather-changing seasons, it needs seasons of difficulty. Allow me to explain. This would largely center around farming, as a large portion of the game is dependent upon food, yet there are always ways to automate it (something I'm not against, but it removes the survival aspect to me). Have there be a planting/light growth season (to plant crops), a growing season (for the crops to grow), and then a harvest season (to harvest the crops). Perhaps if you didn't harvest them in time, you would get items such as poisonous potatoes much more frequently. And these seasons can last a very large amount of time too while providing the players with something new to do. You could also farm animals as an alternate to crops during food shortages, but remember, you still need crops to breed them, so choose wisely. Villagers may also trade crops, but in seasons of planting, at a higher price.

I also believe that there should be some structure/tool/device that is a physical representation of what farming season the game is in at any given time.

maybe that could be left to the modders? that, unfortunately, seems more like a hassle if it was more than cosmetic.

I would honestly prefer that snowy biomes would be removed (except for mountains) and instead they were a normal biome that got real snowy when winter hits.

This would be awesome and would add a feel to the game, maybe they could add a drinking system as well?

I like the idea of a certain moon for a specific season.
Like a crescent moon for Winter, a half moon for Fall and a full moon for Summer. Just a bit of fantasy.

Yes, this would be an amazing feature. I have some suggestions of my own:

    • Baby mobs spawn more in spring
    • Seasonal flowers disappear when it is late fall
    • Hostile mobs have different variants per season, mainly aesthetic, but some would have unique features
    • Natural mobs would change coats in different seasons, like brown rabbits becoming those brown/white ones in the fall/spring, brown in summer, and white in winter
    • Some crops would grow faster in certain seasons, like pumpkins in the fall, or sugarcane also in the fall.
    • Some new plants would spawn in different seasons, such as pumpkins in fall, or flowers in the spring.

As always, thank you for your consideration,

                                                                                                           Bronze Nethershard.

Seasons is my #1 most wanted feature. Right now, Minecraft worlds are a bit static, and having the aesthetic of seasons would be really nice. They don't have to add falling snow to every biome, but at least changing the colors of leaves and grass from season to season, falling leaf particles in fall, change the rain particles to snow particles in winter, etc. It doesn't have to affect gameplay, just make the world look pretty and change it up.

I tried a mod with seasons and i'm not waiting for an update with season, because the biome can be ugly during winter like jungle, and for exemple, always in winer, if there is snow on the grass but not on the high grass, then it will not really change the game

Each seasons should come with minor changes: flora coloration, spawning rates fluctuations, crop times, weather fluctuations, etc...

However, other things like like freezing the water in winter should be avoided. Main idea should not increase difficulty but overall feeling of your surroundings.
