How can this be “under review” this totally defeats the purpose of shulker boxes.

I think we should make backpacks that you can wear behind your back, and you can even put stuff in there to carry around.

A backpack should only have 6 slots max, only be usable in the chest plate slot

I think if backpacks were to be incorporated into the game it would take the chestplate slot up in the armor that you wear and it would directly expand the player's inventory, but the first one you craft would be 8 leather around a tripwire and will only add per say 5 slots and then you craft it with 8 more leather and you get 9 extra slots added to the inventory instead of 5, and the final form of it would be crafted together with a shulker box and it would add 36 extra slots to the inventory and you can only ever hold one backpack at a time

Would be great if made with 3 leather on top, surrounding a chest, 2 string east/west of the chest, and one bucket one bucket on bottom. If the Backpack is attached to a tripwire hook players could empty the filled bucket texture carefully(integrated into the backpack) into another empty bucket, or empty bottles

I would not mind to have the option of having an early game backpack option. I know we have the shulker boxes but you tend to get those when you visit the end. I think having a backpack would be helpful especially when you are doing a lot of branch mining during the early game for all of the rare ores ;).

frankly, if they will add backpacks then it will be quite an ambitious feature. We do have Shulker boxes. But, the backpacks could act differently than what I’ve mentioned about shulker boxes.

First off, backpack will use chest slot and can store a minimum amount of slots, like 5 for example. The cost. Well, worry about it later.

anyways. If ur backpack has stuff in it and unequip it, then all stuff will basically just falls on the ground...

    and yeah, that is it...

Commenting on MaccuPiccu96, the backpack most likely wouldn't add too much more inventory space, maybe 12 at most.

For the people that talk about shulker boxes taking this spot it would be more efficent being able to have backpacks as a chest item as you dont have to beat the game to do this it will be easier to craft early on if you ever need to carry things

MacchuPicchi96 you get shulker boxes after the Ender dragon and you cant wear them...

There should be an extra slot for the backpack like shield slot. And there should be bags that you can carry stuff in and attach to the backpack but has half the storage of a small chest.

I disagree with this idea backpacks are basically already in the game you just need to work hard for it Minecraft already starts you off with a large inventory need for more space is already pretty rare apart if your going to go in a adventure you need to learn to organize yourself and know what to bring and not to bring. To get the shulcker boxes you will need to go to the end the sad part after getting that shulcker box will mean you basically finished minecraft and there is no point of exploring. As a conclusion I think shulcker boxes might need a different use and backpacks should not be in the game but a other sort of item that gives you more inventory space like the shulcker but that does not require to go to the end and is not as complicated to get and that does not give that much more inventory space to keep it balanced and based on being organized

Backpacks should go in the chest plate slot and have 9 extra slots. Backpacks should be crafted with 8 leather. To open the backpack you have to go into your inventory and click it.

I'd support a backpack that, when equipped, would increase a player's maximum (inventory) capacity by a reasonable amount. A backpack should have less capacity than a small chest, since it is meant to be portable. A backpack should not "spill out" its contents when unequipped/taken-off. This item, like many other items could be enchanted with appropriate/applicable enchantments, but otherwise would function as just another mundane item/tool. Its construction recipe might be: 1x small chest (representing its carrying capacity, albeit reduced due to portability), 1x leather (the backpack's body), and 2x strings (the backpack's straps). Just my 2 cents. Good gaming!

Shulker boxes already serve as a “backpack,” but the problem is you can’t get them till you go to the end, or unless you cheat for them. Back packs are an amazing idea.

I think backpacks are a great idea! But it will need to be balanced. You put the backpack in the backpack slot, next to the offhand slot. The backpack should give you an extra 9 inventory slots. You can have multiple different backpacks in different colors. Once you take your backpack off you lose your slots but your stuff stays in the backpack. You can put shulker boxes in backpacks, but you can’t put backpacks in backpacks. I think that’s a balanced way to have backpacks without making it over powered.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT, CONTRIBUTE A LOT TO THE GAME.

shulker boxes : exist .. but they'r an endgame item .. u need to get a nether portal , kill bunch of blazes , kill bunch of endermen then locate a stronghold
then u  need to kill the ender dragon then locate an end city .. how about having a small back pack crafted using leather thats just as small as a normal chest !? can be equiped like armor ( extra bacpack slot like the off hand ) .. and no it dosent take the functionality away from the shulker box .. because u can carry multiple shulkers in you inventory .. meaning :
backpack is a simple starter item .. and if u need more space u will need to get the shulker boxes ..

shulker boxes are harder to find so having a backpack would be cooler.

shucker boxes are only late game backpacks could be made with leather and a chest and could have their own armor slot witch elytra could also fit into

I think it would be a good pre Shulker box item, possibly made with leather and string. It could hold less and take the space of a Chest Plate in order for it not to become an OP item.

How about a 4 leather recipe and 2 string, then then you have it on your chest slot you get 6 extra slots, but as soon as it comes off you lose those spots

I have 2 ideas for implementing backpacks:

    1) Have a seporate 'back' slot in the inventory above the off hand slot, and you can put any storage block in there (chest/shulker box/ender chest). A seporate inventory tab (like creative tabs :D) will then be added to the inventory. In the case of Shulker boxes and Ender Chests, there might already be contents, so these will appear in the tab. Otherwise the contents of the chest will drop when it is taken out of the 'back slot'.

or 2) Just detect the first 1-9 inventory slots and find all the storage blocks in any of those 9 slots, and add these as inventory tabs.

I think backpacks are a great idea but instead of it being something you hold in your inventory it’s something you wear in your armour slots like the elytra so when you equip it, it will add extra inventory slots. I’m not really sure how I feel about upgrading backpacks I personally think that it is unnecessary I think i could be crafted with a chest and leather and 1 bit of iron. Chest being in the middle and leather surrounding the chest leaving top middle for an iron ingot. I think storage space should be between 8-16 slots I think anywhere between there is fairly balanced especially since your giving up the armour slot. I think it should be able to get damaged if hit and be repaired with leather only. if such an event were to happen where it broke all items would drop onto the floor like breaking a chest. I think enchants like unbreaking and mending should be allowed. Overall I think with these features it would be quite a balanced addition to the game

Yeah, shulkerboxes exist, but they're only available late game, and a lot of players may never reach them. Just make backpacks not as good as shulkerboxes. Oh, and llama caravans are available early game, I guess, but they're just not very useful.
