Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I feel like instead of boats there should be rideable dolphins. Pirate ships don't really feel right and I don't think it would be that more useful than a bunch of boats. Rideable dolphins would be like horses but they can only be used underwater. They would be faster than a normal boat but can only fit one person, and because there aren't any boats with chests in them yet, chests could be placed on the sides of dolphins like a donkey or a mule, but it would make dolphins slower.

here my idea and excuse my english
Minecraft must remain imagination and creative and not give its players ready-made items. Minecraft should give the opportunity to create things using existing elements, we all want bigger ships, why not give the option to build blocks, block by block and join everything with the help of another material so that the juice sees it as a whole like that as also he sees that rowboats would understand which blocks are part of the ship

I guess all of these could be cool, I still don't like the idea about guns not even flintlock pistols or blunderbusses

I don't think that we should be able to craft giant ships. Instead, we should be able to use wooden slabs to make a raft. Sails could be created by simply using a banner. But wait! how do we actually make it move?

In the shipwrecks of old, Drowned Captains wander the decks alongside regular Drowned. They are tougher, faster, and always wield tridents. Slaying these Captains will have a rare chance of them dropping a Ship Wheel Fragment. If you get eight of these, you can then craft a Ship's Wheel. By placing it on top of a wooden block on your raft, the raft becomes mobile and you can steer it around.

Rafts have many pros and cons. The pros are that can place blocks on it, move around on it, and even build Redstone on it. The cons are that they aren't really fast, hitting blocks will break up your raft, and destroying the Captain's Wheel destroys the whole raft.

I also want steam powered boats, like river boats. As well as ships displacing water, leaving wakes, and sinking (if damaged).

I do like the idea of a bigger boat. I wouldn't really like cannons, unless you were playing multiplayer in a fight. I do really like the idea of a smaller version of the shipwrecks. The only issue is how it would be made. Instead of crafting, it could be made to where you could build it with some specific new items in use that could instead be made with the classic crafting table? It would be nice to have a moving boat though, instead of me just building one to sit in my port forever.

So if guns aren't allowed can we have ship mates like villagers who have crossbows? Like how there are different blocks that give villagers jobs, can there be some for ship mates who can help defend from pirates (pillagers on land but they have their own ships and fight)?

the old boat is slow and boring and cant really carry all that much unless you do the painful and tedious proces of putting all your mobs in boats and then using leads to go where you want. But what if there was a feature you could make you boat come to life if you build it. similar principle to the wither and Iron Golem you place the right blocks in the right way and boom!

this could go as far as to Planes and Rockets Ik This will never happen but Id 100% put my money for it.

I agree with this! A ship you can roam around and place various blocks like in your home or village. In order to steer the ship you have to be at the wheel and at that point it would play like the regular row boats with probably a slight difference since it's bigger.

And if we had ship mates that would be cool! Like the blocks that allow a villager to have an occupation, we could have those kinds of things to have villagers help defend against pirates! Since guns aren't allowed they could be armed with either swords or crossbows since we already have those in the game.

It could also be the ship alone that triggers a villager to gain an occupation and allow only (depending on how big a ship...) a certain number of villagers to be ship mates!

If there is an occupation block made that you can craft and place on the ship, it should only allow a certain number of villagers to have that job with the one block. And then we could place them in villages to help when pillaged attack.

Also if you think the simple crafting table is too easy to get a ship, what if you can only get a ship in a few ways. 1. You have to buy it from some kind of villager. 2. You have to place the possible special crafting table on the shore so when it's crafted it goes straight into the water and is never an item block.

This would be great for oceanic warfare

I have always thought that Minecraft needed larger boats. Instead of cannons, you could have stations for equipping dispensers that can have fire charges in them. The guns idea I don’t agree with, but something like a cutlass or pirate variant of a pillager (or just a pillager that spawns on natural boats) would be a great idea

I like this! My take on this is to add small sloop sized vessels that can hold three or four people, with a bit of storage space (maybe about a chests' worth.) This would allow players to easily travel anywhere reasonably fast, but with the limitation that you can only use it on water. You could dock it by tying a lead to a fencepost, otherwise it could drift away! This would be a really cool addition!

Also, no to guns and fruit.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to have shipwrecks if there aren't even any ships, it would make exploring the ocean much more engaging if we could sail or even live on the sea.

Here's my Proposition -- Ships And Navigation --

    The Ships:

-They would be the same or something similar to the sunken ships in design

-They would act as a form of mobile base, with all of the basics (crafting table, furnace, bed, and chest)

-They would be crafted in smaller pieces via the crafting table and then you would have to put the pieces together to finally arrive at the completed ship. (mast, cabin, lower deck, etc...)

    The Navigation:

-The ships would include an enhanced form of the cartography table, which would enable placing markers, and have a larger "Map Discovery" area compared to simply walking with a map.

I believe this addition would allow for a greater ability to explore the vast world of Minecraft because there's no real need to stay close to base, and It would greatly improve the current mapping system of Minecraft.

I think some form of naval combat would be cool, maybe we can't have guns, but maybe something like a ballista would be cool to mount on a ship that a second player could control. As well as the ships being able to resist a few shots of this ballista before breaking of sinking with a short animation.

I see a lot of people talking about a block limit, I think it would be better to have actual physics. So we could make large boats and would have to account for buoyancy and water displacement, to make large ships. I also think chest added to boats could add more or less weight, depending on how full they are. As for power, sails would do just fine, but propellers with steam engines could be cool. Doing these could also allow for different blocks to have more durability, while not making the ships over powered.

I don't know about the size that you are talking about, but it would really be nice to have a boat that can fit horses. It would also be nice to have an easier way to get horses and such tamed animals into boats.

Taking inspiration from java mods, you could build them from blocks and use them as a sort of portable base, limitations would obviously be needed since it could become op and laggy but it would allow for more customisation.

I think they should be Structurs. Maybe they could generate rarely and a new typ of Illagers: Pirates could spawn on them. There also spawning Parrots on the ship.

still waiting for this to happen ngl
the idea is great especially when i first saw the sunken ships
this kind of ships can be such a breakthrough for traveling via the ocean, especially if you can have a crew on them ( well at least more than 1 or 2 people that is ) it's pretty boring and slow with the current row boat and with this idea of having a bigger ship with sails, i just hope that it will be significantly faster than the row boats and can also carry items with a chest or whatnot. Great idea but who knows when it's gonna be included into the game.

Not totally the best idea but if they added like a 4 person raft and large ocean bioms or maybe even a log canoe that fits 3 or 4 people that would be great

I quite agree with you, however I feel that firearms, no matter how primitive they may be, leave bows and crossbows a bit at a disadvantage, they are the best ways to attack from a distance. I feel that I would be leaving aside these weapons that if they have their degree of difficulty to be used for something more difficult to obtain, it seems to me that in practice it would not be very good.

I think thats a very great idea. You can transport villager and other animals. May it could be very effective for swamps and other water bioms.

Maybe just keep the regular boat but make it be able to be upgraded. You could craft have a boat in the middle of the crating table with a banner in the middle top and surround it with wood blocks to create a slightly bigger sail boat that could hold a chest and a bed or maybe a double chest and furnace or crafting table basically 3 slots for a building block or maybe 4 people or something

What if there’s a block, like a lectern-like two block bench (like beds) that rarely is part of sunken ship’s structure or loot. This shipbench/shipyard-block could do a simple thing, turn some wooden blocks and turn them into wooden “block entities” these would work like normal blocks between them and as an entity to the rest of the environment, pushable by the player, having some “health level” etc… these could be used to build your own ship with some rules, just like the 12 block piston pull/push limit, like the entity will break or stop moving if it is, for example 100 blocks, to move there must be a row or sail (also entity made from wool) to block ratio finally to steer a new helm block that can be added onto the ship. Some other blocks like chests or beds could be “entitified” to allow for storage and sleep on the ship. Or a bunk bed like block added to allow for sleep for use exclusively on the ship. This way the main issue of sunken ships made of normal blocks can be resolved giving us pretty much the same “technology” that allows ship building in world.

I personally think that bigger boats and ship would make for a lot of bugs and glitches. Does it count as an entity or a group of blocks? How would it move the player? How would the hitboxes work? How do you get on it if it were an entity? Right-clicking? Standing on it? This would make for a really confusing and complicated hybrid between entities and blocks and whatnot. I'd say a slightly bigger boat might be alright, but pirate-boats or anything longer than 5 blocks would make life hard.

Maybe a kind of advanced crafting table, with more slots, that requires higher tier items to craft? that way it could unlock a lot of larger crafts, such as larger boats, or more complicated designs.
