1111 and I've thought similar things. Having moving pirate ships would be amazing to have.Maybe also skeleton and zombie pirate variants. The skeleton using the Flintlock the zombie using a cutlass.

I agree with the idea. It would be cool if there was a new block called the shipyard block, where you could build ships that look like pirate ships. It would also be cool if you could design your own ships. I also think it would be cool if you could put blocks on it. Cannons and pirate guns would be cool too. The whole thing should work in Minecraft PE too.

What If they just made it so you could attach blocks to row boats in a 16 block radius? Make what ever boat you want from there. A floating house? Yes please!

Add big ships like the sunken one that are acc drivable and have them to you can have players on them and be able to place beds and cargo cause the games getting boring and we need a new sense of adventure also add like a captains cabin and to be able to craft one have like a ship crafting table but allow us players to be able to build them near the start like the rowing boat so we can start adventuring and also add rams so you can go through the ice parts

It would be nice if there was a way to make our own ships out of blocks?
Like WHY are there ship "structures" sunken on the ocean floor if we can not even make ships out of blocks our selves that work.

We should ask mojang for some consistency in things for us to work towards in survival and to have as a goal long term.

Having a large ship thats made out of blocks we can walk around while its sailing the ocean winds would be amazing!
Think of the great exploration potential or the fact we can even

This is something they should try and do this but similar in a more vanilla friendly way.

i agree we need better boats and i feel like if u can make larger boats u can customize them with different stuff like harpoon cannons, regular cannons that require gunpowder and an iron nugget to fire, sails, banners, chests, etc

Maybe you would craft a ship base, and build on to it. The ship base would have a steering wheel, as well as a platform for building.

That’s good but instead of a bigger table how about you have to make parts like with iron, wood, or even stone. GREAT IDEA BTW

It doesn't have to be multiblock-sized ships, but I do agree there should be a functional upgrade in some way at least, that you can add a chest and a dyeable sail to (and a lantern would be amazing). Don't Starve (Shipwrecked) has similar entity size limitations but still has rafts, rowboats and sailboats that are more or less the same size but have more functionality with each tier.

I was actually a bit surprised this doesn't exist yet. How do we have a "Sail the 7 Seas" achievement but no sails lol?

I've been thinking a lot about how to craft your own boats, and I think there are two good solutions(ive taken inspiration from other comments):

    1. you cant build one yourself, but you can FIND functional ones that are used by pillagers or something, kill the pillagers and use the ship yourself. BUT this boat you could customize by breaking and placing your own blocks. It would be kinda like pistons though, where you can only place a certain amount or the boat cant move

2.you craft ship planks with slime and normal planks, this becomes a new type of block that is affected by gravity: it falls, BUT it floats in water. it ALSO behaves like slime, where it sticks to itself and other blocks. again though, similar to pistons there would be a limit on how many blocks can move to keep people from building lag inducing movable mountains. Lastly, you would be able to craft some sort of helm, or maybe find them on end ships

    3. Maybe a combination of both? can break apart pillager ships for planks or something?

Perhaps just a small sail boat would do enough, but you could also have storage chests(up to 4) or shulker boxes(also up to 4, but not with the chests) on the boat, by simply shift right clicking on the boat while inside it and holding the chest or shulker box, and simply left clicking to destroy it. The sail boats would go faster then regular boats, but wouldn’t be able to move on land and would be bulkier, so they wouldn’t be able to fit in tight spaces.

i do agree with what you have said and yes it would be cool to see those type of weapons in the games. Its very clear to us that Mojang would never add guns to the game, they have said this in a post a year ago so i would probably not mention it again if i were you. i do like the idea of having bigger boats, which i think has great potential in the game. For instance it should carry cargo and can hold at least up to 4 players the maximum. another thing that i would love to see in your idea is the fact that Wandering Traders should use these boats to carry their cargo with them and there llamas which tells you that you are not alone in this world. even Pillagers could have a mechanism with this where they can hunt for players at see on these type of boats. this would be dangerous and fun at the same time, if Mojang thinks this is a little to hard for the players to handle. then i would suggest putting this idea for players that wants to put their gamemode on hard or hardcore. i feel like we should add more challenges for the player to experience. we shouldn't stop the player from exploring new challenges. i think this would be a great idea to the idea that this guy thought of above us.

This would help Minecraft cater better to both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated with the same addition, but the best way to implement this into the sandbox Minecraft would be by having the players building their boats. let's be honest what's the point of having a huge ship in your backyard ocean if you can't sail it.

I like the pirate idea and others here I'd just be happy with small sail boat with a chest or storage at least just a single mast cabinless boat not huge maybe like 3x3 block triangle for sail 2 wide 1 height 4 or 5 length hull that you can sail or stand on make it where it can take damage and sink like a durabilty bar like tools and weapons have but I also think it should be able to be repaired and have to be maintenced dolphin could interact with ships and drowned and other hostile water mods could try and attack sink it or we can even follow a similar them to Minecraft railcars by making row boat 2 blocks long and being able to add furnace and or chest to them and being able to connect 2 or 3 of them kinda like a tug boat and barge in not a programmer but that might be easiest to achieve mechanics are already there just need tweaked like the "lead" for horses to connect and the rail car and row boat mechanics for movement and features but like I said I'm not a programmer lol

Have wanted this for ages! Also would be cool to have pillager pirates that use giant mounted crossbows to present a challenge to any sea-faring adventurer.

maybe there could be drowned pirates with their own ships that you could encounter in the sea and you would have to sink it or kill all the drowned for some loot.

Id just like to be able to craft a mobile floating raft that is like 1x3x4, and it could be built off of, above for a ship and below for a submarine. It should be expensive to craft, like it would require a heart of the sea to build.
To move I think swivels and propellers need to be added to the craftable items roster. Maybe even implement a cannon to feel more pirate like, using gunpowder and various blocks as ammunition.

I like this idea! Larger boats! Would it be also cool if you could build your own boats out of blocks and be able to move them around as a boat? That would be awesome! Thanks for adding this brilliant idea! :)

Big enough that we could put a bed and chest on it, a tiny bit of walk around space and maybe a system with the wind that makes it go faster by moving the sails

Crafted by 2 of the same type of boat in the crafting grid?

Here's what I propose: a medium-sized ship, about 3-4 times the size of a normal boat, with the ability to hold up to 4 passengers and can fit at least 1 or 2 chests. Crafting recipe is simple: have 2 normal boats of the same wood (one in the center slot and one to the left of it), 3 planks of the same wood on the bottom row, and 2 wool at the top-right and center right-hand slots. The ship will be 25% slower than a normal boat, but it's balanced out with the extra storage and passenger space. Model doesn't change much: remove the oars, make it bigger, and add a mast with a square(or triangle) sail. Inventory UI would be similar to a donkey/mule's UI when opening up it's inventory. Controls stay the same. Adding chests would have the model of the chests at the rear. Adding a banner would add the design to the sail, or maybe just stick the banner at the top of the mast.

Now, you could do a LOT with this addition: have pillagers spawn in these ships and sail in on you or an unsuspecting village, spawn the wandering trader in one of these and can trade with you out at sea, generate villages out at sea that can have these ships sitting in a dock of some sort. The list goes on and on.

I love the idea of ships, for a while I've actually been trying to find a good pirate ship mod and I guess I could live with cannons, but I don't like the idea of any handheld gun, no matter how primitive, being added to the game. One thing that minecraft has stayed true to since it was first created was NO GUNS. I think that adding guns would ruin the entire game for many people, myself included.

LOVE the ships idea though. Seriously.

Ships should be found, or crafted... if crafted, I suggest that 9 wood blocks make 1 "hull block" then, 8 hull blocks with a "sail block" in the middle (possibly crafted from 9 wool).

A lot of people keep saying "leave it to the mods" but as great as some of them are and I appreciate the modding community and all, but they'll never be as good as an official release. It was disappointing to see the one of the most realistic things you'd expect from an AQUATIC update wasn't added. Modders tend to struggle with making boats you can walk on, have proper lighting, and overall fit the theme of Minecraft. This would also provide a chance to change the functionality of the End ships. I don't think the boats should go overboard but I think a maximum size ship would be the largest ship for a longterm voyage should accommodate for a full or half a realm server (5 or 11 people).

The ships could be used to move around villagers/other npcs, animals, have storage, or just be a place for the player(s) to live, maybe even overhaul fishing to where now you can fish with nets and get large amounts of fish (for balance purposes little or no lucky loot is brought in) Villagers/sailors to trade with at sea could also become a thing, also needing to watch out for pillagers, or just pirates in this case. I really think the ocean is honestly even though it got an update is still pretty dull

Well, I think having larger canoes, rafts and maybe some small sail boats would be cool to have. Especially if we can get pirate ilagers

I believe that another way to get simple access to large ships and boats that people could customize and make look like whatever they want is to configure the Archimedes Ships mod from the PC version and change it so that it can be used in PE version. Perhaps changing the controls and then putting it on the Minecraft Marketplace Store would be best, because that way you wouldn't even need to create a whole new system, as there's a functioning one right there already made. though it is a mod, having it configured for PE or at least somewhat transformed for the PE version would make a perfect update to the Aquatic update and would add the sense of adventure if players are so inclined
