As of the latest version of the game, it has come to my attention that villages, desert pyramids, and nether fortresses now look really boring. And I mean REALLY boring. I’m sure that their original designs were monumental not long after they were released in their corresponding updates, now however........eeeehhhhh not so much. Being a Minecrafter for 4 years, I no longer get that OOOOOOH AAAAAAAAAH feeling whenever I come across these places and explore them you feel me?
I don’t think it’s fair that these structures are neglected and pushed aside like a mother cat sadly rejecting one of her kittens! And if you think it sounds THAT bad, it’s because it is THAT BAD! It just infuriates me.
Cmon guys! At least one major redesign on these structures so they look a lot more epic and adventurous is good enough for me! I really don’t want to have to go through the trouble of redesigning it myself, especially in creative.

Perhaps they could keep the old designs well adding new ones. Also improving gameplay and respawn would be helpful.
I'm at least glad that they did a village redesign because the regular villages had become... well, bland. I'm sure Minecraft will look better with some extra structure redesign, however. I mean, how many of you get annoyed while trying to find treasure in the Nether fortresses and getting lost? With a simple redesign, maybe things won't be so... irritating.
Also, the dungeons really need to be more difficult to get in to.
I agree naturally generated structures need a huge update.
Logdotzip made a video about it and I think its great.
SystemZee also made a video about structures that should be added and I agree.
This would be great. Villages have already had a redesign, but everything else I totally agree with. Changes wouldn't have to be drastic, but small details could make them look nicer. Except Witch houses. A major redesign is needed there.
I do think the stronghold should get a new layout with new rooms. I also find desert temples to be boring, I would like to see more traps and possibly have them be semi-random generates traps.
It would be neat if there were a rare Nether Fortress variant, that used red, Nether brick
Mojang, Please Make a shattered savannah village which has houses made of stripped and normal acacia logs, Acacia trap doors, Smooth stone slabs, With floating islands with houses on them. They Also have pastures with 3 mules in them renamed Village Stock Movers. These mules will not be rideable and you cannot access their chests, but in one of the surrounding houses there is a farmer selling a lead renamed Village Stock Movers Pass Costing 15 emeralds which will give you access the horse and its chest, and it will be fast. I hope you liked my suggestion!😃
The structures are meant to make you think "I could do better" so you go in to modify, or build your own. Otherwise the game plays itself and you potentially get really frustrated when all you can build is a dirt box...
To put it simply:
Players want to be surprised.
The best way to provide surprises is variety.
Said variety would also add interest and doesn't require the structures be breathtaking,
all it requires is a few more prefabs being cycled between.
I think we should do something like this:
Example Desert Temple:
- Classic Desert Temple [A]
- Variant of Classic Desert Temple [B]
- Variant of Classic Desert Temple [C]
- Structure Block Desert Temple 1
- Structure Block Desert Temple 2
- Structure Block Desert Temple 3
- Structure Block Desert Temple 4
- Large Structure Block Desert Temple 1 (Dynamic generation on traps and tunnels and whats inside or in side rooms)
- Large Structure Block Desert Temple 2 (Dynamic generation on traps and tunnels and whats inside or in side rooms)
They should make the classic desert temple we see today "Rarest" to find and the variants of it "semi rare"
and the structure variants to be the main ones and the large structure variants to be less common than the structure ones but more than classic variants etc.
This would add flavour to the deserts and every temple would be unique enough it would be hard to notice if its the same.-Nether Fortresses: Have no texture too them and appear quite bland, should include more color and variety of rooms and traps
-Ocean Monuments: Disappointed these weren't updated in the update aquatic, should now include the new waterlogged slabs and stairs of their corresponding prismarine. Also maybe make the structure odd numbers so their less strange gaps and crevices between the rooms and that easy round about section of the monument to make it more challenging.
-Mineshafts can do with some aesthetic changes as well as new rooms or adding TNT in random areas?
-Desert Temples: Have Husks spawn and guard the temple like the pillager outposts! including more aesthetically pleasing details and use the new sand blocks would be perfect for this. Make the second floor useful or at least a part of the lore somehow. Maybe by making the room appear more crypt like but keep the structures design mainly
-Jungle Temples. Same scenario as the Desert Temple can do with some second floor puzzle or trap and maybe include some new blocks to add to the lore and atmoshere.
-Dungeons: Too easy to defeat and not a lot of adventure in them. Maybe by making multiple types of dungeons designed to fit the type of spawner it has. Adding details like high ceiling and cobwebs for spider spawners or small side rooms where skeletons can shoot you from add difficulty but makes finding them more fun. They should contain 3 parts to it: a trapped corridor, the spawner room, and the treasure room to make it seem more like something to find and go through!
Mojang should update the nether fortress in the nether update to look like Grian's transformation from one of his videos.
Jungle Temples are terrible! We need some re-designs.
Maybe they could have expert builders make 5 or 6 designs for each structure then have them randomized for structures with a set look like desert temples. For ones where the structure itself is generated by a random procedure, they should do the same thing, but separate it into segments, so each segment will have 5-6 randomly generated designs, and the segments combine to create the whole structure.
I fully agree we should change the structures and their redstone mechanics as long as we keep it as Vannila Minecraft as possible and the block pallate is as similar as possible to the original design. Maybe Mojang should hold a contest for recreating ingame structures and the winner's design would get put in the game.
When it comes to desert pyramids and jungle temple, they are such a good opportunity for a maze made of procedurally generated rooms with enemies, parkour, traps, puzzles, and possibly a boss similarly to Ocean Monument.
My biggest complaint with current version of those structures is that:
1. There is very little content - simple TNT trap that nobody will fall into after 1st time and 4 chests/simple lever puzzle that nobody will bother with since it's easier to just break the wall and dispenser almost incapable of killing anyone even it they fall into it.
2. Once you have seen them once, you have seen all others.
Maybe dungeons could be bigger/nicer? Whenever I come across a dungeon, it's just the normal loot(rotten flesh, horse armour, maybe once in a while a music disc). It could have some traps or tripwires like in jungle temples, or maybe explode like the desert temples.
As a player since the Redstone Update, I think the structures were really nice but over the years with the release of new blocks and the Nether Update coming out and seeing Piglin Bastions, I think the existing structures could use a total overhaul. However, if this feedback does come into fruition, I think that NEW BOSES in these existing structures would kill two birds with one stone with another problem which is the lack of Boss battles that are in the game.
I just think that structures need more details, Minecraft has evolved a lot from many versions and has therefore acquired many new blocks over time and therefore allow to rejuvenate already existing structures in Minecraft.
The build itself has also evolved a lot so it would be entirely possible to improve the structures !
Fully agreed. Just look at fanmade "redesigns" of nether fortresses and jungle temples. They don't break the aesthetic of the game and feel much more awesome.
The structures could definitely use a rework, but especially the woodland mansion that you travel over ten thousand blocks to find.
I explored a few woodland mansions in creative (using the /locate and /tp commands). It seemed the majority of the rooms would be useless in survival. For example, why would travel so far and find wool statues of a chickens and cats? Or other rooms that I could easily build with resources I already have? Even the secret rooms wit diamond blocks could be recreated with a bit of caving or branch mining. The structure needs better loot: Make chests spawn more frequently and more likely to contain enchanted golden apples.
The structure I most want updated is the Stronghold. It's one of the three most important structures in Minecraft and it's been around for years. But if you compare it to something like the Mansion or the 1.14 villages, it looks bland and repetitive. New rooms with things like armor stands, maps in item frames, beds, spawners, large empty chest rooms...what about an unlit Nether portal frame somewhere near the End Portal? What about new libraries that use lecterns? Please? Would love a Stronghold that's vanilla but beautiful at the same time.
I don’t know if Mojang would listen to this but I’m 100% agree with this idea.
There are some really old structures in the game. New structures start from the end city use structure NBT to store (end city, mansion, igloo, ship reck, underwater ruin, new village and even the new Nether structures). But structures in pre1.8 are just not receiving any love.
My thoughts:
1. Ocean Monument:
Totally not worth visit at all. You need to traverse tons of guardians, and probably need a conduit or water breathing potions. This mean you have already visited the nether fortress or find a buried treasure. It’s somewhat difficult to traverse since those guardians spawned everywhere really do a lot of damage and they have a lot of health, BUT what do you get for clearing a Monument? Probably sea lanterns? And 8 gold blocks? Really, before 1.16 no one cares about gold and for post 1.16, 72 ingots are not rewarding enough. For technical players, the only use is to make guardian farm.
Suggestion:
Add chests of course! Now chests can be waterlogged and they look normal underwater so why not? Probably those chests are locked and keys can be find somewhere in the Monument (Locked chest is already a feature but is rather useless beside adventure maps, but in monument it’s a pain to break blocks so I think it fits).
Cont.
2. Desert Pyramid
This is the only structure I think worth visiting - It has 4 chests and that’s enough.
Suggestion:
Make it in structure block. Slight re-design the exterior or give it some variations. Pre spawn mobs in the main room (husks). For the underground part, I think it would be cool to have random traps including the original one, but I don’t expect this to happen at all.
3. Jungle Temple
You get 2 chests from it so not too bad, but the design is really old and need improvements.
Suggestion:
Make it in structure block. Re-design the exterior and interior. Pre spawn mobs. Probably a jungle villager who is trapped inside?
4. Nether Fortress
I notice that fortress chests have significantly less valuable loot than other structures. Also, the generation of nether fortress is not exciting.
Suggestion:
Add more room types, make the loot more impressive. Use the new added nether blocks.
5. Dungeon
Cmon, do you think it’s a dungeon? It’s a small box.
Suggestion:
Make it at least 9 times bigger. It should contain connecting rooms with spawners, pre spawned mobs and traps.
6. Mineshaft
I don’t know, just feel like it’s too old.
Suggestions
Need a lot more variations to make it look more like mineshaft. Generate more ores in mineshaft.
I know strongholds and mineshafts are supposed to be abandoned and all, but I feel as if they are just TOO empty. Like it had its potential wasted and it is just empty space with the exception of spawners, libraries, and the end portal room.
Perhaps there could be 2 or 3 variations of each, to make it more interesting.
This would be great the jungle pyramid needs a complete redesign IMO. maybe add specific mobs that you can find in these dungeons to make them more worth it. They could even add new blocks that can only be found there that cannot be crafted. they could do a dungeon update where they completely change everything about them and add some new ones.
I agree as dungeons have remained untouched for years and are just a square box. Strongholds are quite empty compared to the newer structures & desert temples could have more inside of them on the top layer. Nether fortresses could use a face lift (Use of new nether blocks) or more interior design.
