I love the creaking! It's a fresh and new take on a Minecraft Mob. A few things that will elevate it further:

    1) Improve the gameplay potential with the creaking heart. I want more reasons to grab this block, wether its a way to make the creepy ents useful, or ways to power it as a light source without spawning creepy ents, or making it part of a new redstone recipe, etc.

    2) Currently, the creaking spawns with the regular hostiles in the biome. This takes away the focus from its unique gameplay. The pale garden's biome should not spawn any other hostile mobs. In exchange, creaking hearts should spawn more often and creaking should get their attack buffed slightly.

Overall, I love the whole concept of The Creaking. The only things I would like to see tweaked are giving it more damage as it can't damage you at all in full unenchanted diamond armor, giving it a few different model variants like trees have, making it a little faster, and potentially having it attack other hostile mobs.

It's height should be increased for sure, a bit more taller. Also i would increase it's damage, with the damage it has now i dont think it really poses as a threat, even if there would be multiple of them around you. I feel like the amount of damage they deal could be the reason you dont want to lose them from your sight. Creaking already blends in perfectly with the forest and is already a great addition to the game but i feel it needs more work still.

Naming a creaking should stop it from despawning during the day unless the creaking heart is broken. There's currently at the moment no way to keep a creaking around.

Players should be able to use amethysts to create calibrated creaking hearts, therefore making creakings spawned from that heart peaceful to the player and aggressive to mobs

This update is excellent, but I have a suggestion that i think would be a nice addition. I believe that when the creaking strikes a player, it should inflict a potion effect called “Paralysis.”

This effect would reduce the player’s movement speed and halve their jump height. I believe this addition would enhance the gameplay by making it more challenging to evade the creaking and preventing players from simply building upwards to escape.

Creaking could have a special effect on your armor with sub effects when it attacks. For example, he could apply with 15% chance the curse "Parasitic mushrooms". This curse mainly reduces the durability of the armor with each hit received but not at the same intensity.

    Main effect:

    • The leather armor will be severely affected by the curse, which reduces durability by 4.
    • The iron armor will have a slightly less but rather significant effect with a reduction by 3.
    • Other armor will be reduced by a simple factor of 2.
    • Maybe netherite couldn't be affected because it's special.

    Secondary effect:

    • On a helmet, the spread of mold reduces the player’s vision.
    • On a plastron, the mold hinders the movement of the arms which reduces the damage that the player can inflict.
    • On leggings, mold hinders the movement of the legs which reduces walking speed.
    • On boots, the player is like rooted to the ground and his jumping ability is reduced.

Maybe the effect could be quite visual with some kind of mold on the armor.

Two simple ideas for applying the secondary effect:

Idea 1 : The secondary effect could be very rare (maybe 5%) and affect only one piece of armor instead of all at once.

Idea 2 : The secondary effect could only apply if the armor is nearly destroyed, which can happen very quickly.

Creaking, when we look at him, let him blink his embers occasionally, with some delays so we can notice him.

I think it is an amazing addition, although it should have a hitbox be 2 blocks tall to make it harder to hide from them, sorta like how the warden has a smaller hit box, the shorter height wouldn't matter because you aren't able to damage them

I feel like the creaking would make Minecraft a horror game, which I am personally against, because If I were Mojang I would want Minecraft to stay a more peaceful and kid friendly game. I think Mojang should add a way to make unwanted mobs not spawn. They should at least make the creaking heart do something cool like summon your own creaking minions, or something of that sort. Or another thing that would make this better would be that the creaking basically freezes when it's  day, or can't go to far from it's creaking heart. Anyway I hope my concerns and ideas will be considered.

The creaking body should have a few variations like actual trees do. For example, some may have their head on a different side and others have longer limbs. That would help each feel more unique and perhaps a little bit scarier and less predictable.

the creaking kinda feels bland make it drop something or have it have like fragment drop like when you get nine of them you can craft a some sort of totem so were the creaking can't hurt you and hostile mobs do 1 heart less bc you have the power of the creaking (because the creaking doesnt take any damage unless you break the heart so I would make it so mobs do less damage to you)

The Creaking should do a lot of damage so that the player has to be more careful around them. In my opinion they should deal enough damage that traveling in the pale forest could actually be scary even with armor on. Currently you could just ignore these guys and walk off the damage.

The Creaking is meant to blend in with the biome and Mojang has done a great job with this. I think it would work better if the eyes closed when it was looked. At, this way you only see it for a second, then it's gone! Alternatively, if you really want the eyes to be open, they should follow your movements to make it more creepy.

Also, after the creaking heart is broken, instead of instantly dieing, it should stay alive and be able to take damage. It would also not stop pursuing the player.

Lastly, please make a better, creepier waking animation.

I care a lot for this mob design and I really want to see it succeed. As it stands, the creaking is quite underwhelming. It acts as more of a supporting role for other mobs to overwhelm you, where as I believe it should be able to stand on its own.

For the Pale Forest to truly feel different, I think it needs to take a similar approach to the Deep Dark, have other mobs not spawn. All focus should go onto the creaking, as that's what the whole biome builds up towards. The sounds of the trees creaking are amazing and really build that tension and eeriness, then night falls and you get double teamed by a skeleton and a creeper.

    Doesn't do enough damage
By the time you find a pale forest, chances are you've got a full set of iron armour. Even if you don't, the creaking is not really a threat whatsoever. It'll also help to punish the player for not playing by the new gameplay mechanic. You can just tank all the damage they do and break the heart.

Too easy to run away from
They're way too slow. Their drawback is they don't move when looked at, why make them also really slow. You can literally outwalk them.

Biome is small and has minimal incentive to be there
If the player had to decide whether its worth taking the risk sprinting through the forest to get to somewhere else or walking around it, that would be cool. But the biome is so small and skinny most of the time that you can just sprint jump through it all.

It would be useful since we can take its heart and place it in other places, so that it attacks other mobs too, no matter if they are hostile or animals.

Yo we got the living trees from LOTR mixed with the weeping angels mod I love it

I think it should be taller, like VERY tall. I also liked the idea someone said of having fake creaking statues so you never know if it'll attack you. Also just incorporate some Herobrine features and make it overall more scary and dangerous lol

Perhaps the Creaking could seek out light sources (fire, torches) and attempt to put them out.

Being a puppet of the forest and all, I'd imagine it would hate fire. This could also further emphasize the spooky atmosphere of the Pale Garden, as any torches you place could mysteriously be broken!

This also gives The Creaking a secondary objective, making them feel more alive as they aren't solely in existence when following the Player!

I honestly do like the design, however, the mechanics need more work. The creaking does absolutely no damage and the whole point of it being "scary" just stops being it when you realize it literally can't kill you. Also, It definitely needs an animation rework, since it just isn´t consistent with all of the recent mobs and honestly just seems incredibly goofy. I also think the creaking is pretty easy to deal with (besides the low damage) It is really easy to make it stop and surround it with blocks or create a hole where it can't reach you.

Ngl I feel like that the creaking should have different variants kind of like the new wolf variants, with different shapes and designs, not only that, but I feel like that a mob with two baseball bats for arms should do more damage than 1.5 hearts of damage.

Also perhaps that the creaking could drop the pale oak sappling?

I do like the eyes closing idea.

Overall the creaking adds an unique gameplay to the game but there are some flaws such as its low damage and if you look down at your feet all creakings will not be able to move around you.

Creakings store names after they respawn from time (each time it becomes day there names reset)

I think the creaking should spawn on the same place it de-spawned when in turned to day. So if it is at 20, 60, 90 when it turns day and it de-spawns, it should spawn in that exact place again when it turns night again and it spawns again.

It's currently to eazy to cheese The Creaking by going on top of the trees, and the creaking has no way to climb up to you. I have 2 ideas of fixing this.
    1. If the creaking cannot pathfind to you, make it able to enter pale oaks logs (similarly to the warden) and the emerge on top of the tree, so it can chase you.
    2. Give the creaking a ranged "attack" (not really an attack) that makes you sink through leaves blocks, and make you fall down back to the ground level.

Option 2 is a bit cooler imo, but also eazy to cheese by placing solid blocks beneath you so their ability doesn't work

    • You can just dig out the ground and be entirely safe, maybe when you're looking at it the ground becomes heavily rooted around it and can't be mined. You could still just mine around it but it would be much more inconvenient.
    • It should definitely deal more damage
    • Something should drop from the heart so you have a reason to be there.
    • It should be much faster so you see them far away but if you turn around for a second they'll be much closer than you expect when you look at them again.
    • Having the heart be a shield and then still having to kill it after may not be a bad idea.
    • Growing a sapling in a pale garden should have a chance to spawn with a heart.
    • The biome could be a little bigger

I know I repeated a lot of things others have said and a lot of them have high votes but I figured I'd still make a list. why not.

oh my god if you add short little mushroom men that attack players and mobs if they come near their area maybe you could do the throw on the ground trading with them

I wish the creaking was faster than the player so you couldnt just run away from it. I also wish it could climb and squeeze through one block holes so it cant just be contained and ignored. I love the idea of the creaking and think its an amazing creppy addition to the game!

One of the best 1.21 features was the Ominous Bottle, because it introduced Ominous Events to the game. I think this feature could be implemented into the Creaking - my idea is that when you walk next to a Creaking Heart with Bad Omen, it becomes a blue Ominous Creaking Heart. This makes it spawn the Ominous Creaking at night. The Ominous Creaking deals more damage and can disguise itself more easily by closing its eyes. I think it could also be creepier than the regular Creaking mob, by making spookier ambient noises and having blue eyes. This would be a fun expansion of the Ominous Event system!

So here's my overall impressions, and reactions to existing suggestions.

I think the creaking is reason enough to go to the biome, especially at night. Not every new feature has to change the game balance or be highly incentiveised. I also spent a while trying to locate hearts during the day and it is so much more annoying than just dealing with the creakings. However those who don't already know about the creaking seem unlikely to encounter them naturally, I think simply making the biomes bigger on average would definitely increase the odds of one stumbling on them at night, preferably taking some from nearby biomes and not just replacing more dark oak

I do belive it should do slightly more damage and/or be faster than the player, even armorless with five of them chasing you they hardly pose a threat. Considering they're easier to avoid than zombies and take up the same mob cap, they should probably at least do similar dps.

Now, i absolutely adore the "different woods around the heart activate the creaking differently" idea, it would satisfy all 3 sides of the player placed heart argument. Even just limiting it to the oaks; dark oak could be daytime spawn(since roofed forest used to spawn mobs during the daytime), classic oak making it attack hostiles, and pale oak makes hostile to player, of course, (maybe you could even mix and match), However I also understand that that could be difficult to do within the holiday deadline.

Regarding 'Creaking', I feel that there should be an option to find a boss or a more powerful Creaking by collecting multiple hearts, creating an additional boss. It would be cool if the reward included something like a long-range stick to place or break blocks farther away (making the community that voted for the crab in the last mob vote happier). This would provide a well-rounded drop with an added feature that everyone wants.
