the idea of increasing damage depending on height is very interesting, but in real battles it is extremely useless. An interesting way to implement such a heavy weapon would be the mechanics of a long strike with cooldown (similar to enderperls), in which the Mace could be loaded (like a bow) by holding down the mouse button and increasing the damage done, and released, damaging the target. The mechanics of increasing damage in a fall could be made a separate enchantment on the mace.

It’s already super cool(!!!), but you could also do the same with the blaze rod( but then fire) (and maybe make the breeze rod more useful) and maybe new types of breeze like mobs?(all starting with b, like blizzard(snowy, maybe with ice crystals instead of rods?)), or bolt(lightning), (again, super great work(!!) with everything, you’re my favorite game) and maybe (just an idea, not ment mean), the breeze lives in the Aether? And maybe less quick but more damage

I like how the mace requires skill to unlock its power. I see that a breeze rod is used to make the mace. What if a blaze rod could be used to make a different type of mace? One where the more damage you take the more damage you dish out.

I really like the mace, but it accentuates a far greater issue in Minecraft's combat system—needing a pixel perfect hit on an enemy just doesn't feel good. If you were to expand the area in which you could successfully strike, even in different shapes for different weapons and tools (represented by, perhaps, a bigger crosshair with a different shape), it would make the game's combat more accessible, dynamic and rewarding.

Beyond that, the mace feels really good to use, because it makes you think with your terrain, and is situational. That's just good game design. I fear there will be a temptation to nerf it or put a damage cap on it, because it feels very powerful, but the high-risk high-reward nature of the weapon is why it works. The community really likes this, because it's bold, unique, new and powerful. Show us more like this, but please, please don't make us repair it in an anvil. That's silly. Mending and Unbreaking can be applied to anything with durability, even shields. You can enchant a BRUSH. Let us enchant the mace.

I also agree with the consensus of making it 3D, because it's just odd in its current state.

The mace could also be used to crush cobblestone into gravel and gravel into sand.

Hello Mojang, thank you for new weapon , but you need to change the texture, it's very strange. Please can you do it more 3d like. Thank again for new update. – Issakhan

The Mace is a very fun and interesting weapon to use. It can be used in various scenarios such as with wind charges and Elytra, or simple jumping from higher terrain.

However really powerful option is that you can build up several blocks high and one shot power mobs like the Wither and Warden. There is of course a huge risk in doing so, but with items like totems, feather falling, and placing water it can reduce the risk significantly.

I wanted to look at ways to balance the Mace. Yes it is a 2.22% chance of getting a core and can't be enchanted, but I think the weapon itself still needs to be balanced.

I strongly believe however a strict damage cap is NOT the way to go. I see too possible ways that both can work well. One is too have have the additional damage dealt each block you fall decrease. Maybe a logarithmic relationship between rate of change of damage and blocks fallen, you still can do insane damage it just takes more effort.

Another idea I think can work is the more you fall the more durability the Mace looses. Falling from a height tall enough to kill a Warden should leave 75% of durability for example. Perhaps the durability can be slightly increased to account for this change.

This is a great and fun item, and I would like it to still be fun in the final release while also being balanced. It is quite the difficult task I know, but I think that it can be done and doing so would truly help make the Mace a exceptionally special addition to Minecraft

The fact that it knocks back other enemies in the surrounding area is really cool! I feel like a neat enchantment for this would be one that increases this knockback effect with each level.

I have did some experiments with it, and I believe a fine changes would be to count fall damage or rather set a "maximum damage" as people could easily set up some water or use a totem, and deal an immense amount of damage.

Because the mace is a heavy and powerful weapon, I think when we jump from high with the mace and hit mobs, mace should also damage other mobs around it.

I think the model should be 3d, with the head being the model for the heavy core. It could even have 1-2 px tall spikes coming off of it, to make it look more menacing.

I think the mace needs a 3D texture because 2D doesn’t really suit it.
Another idea is to make particles from the odor on several targets from the clouds. There is also an idea to increase the damage from a regular strike to 8 units

I feel like there should be a counter to the mace because you can 1-hit-kill someone with prot IV netherite with a wind charge, strength II, and a mace (assuming they don't have a totem equipped). Maybe the solution is that you could put a heavy core on your head to negate mace damage but slow you down while wearing it (sort of like how a carved pumpkin allows you to look at endermen but blocks some of your vision). To prevent accidental placement, you would need to crouch+place the heavy core.

There should be a boss you need to fight in the Trial Chambers in order to get the heavy core given how strong the mace is.

I think they should add some cool enchants like one I’ve been thinking about called “Updraft”. There could be 3 levels of this enchantment. Basically when you drop down and hit enemies with a hammer with Updraft on it, it would send you flying upward. Each level of the enchant would increase the height you get in the Updraft. Anyway, if anyone reads this, I thank you for taking time out of your day to read my idea.

The mace is quite good, with an interesting concept and a unique ability with potential. Overall, it has potential, but currently it is not a viable weapon to replace the sword or the bow. Similar to the crossbow, it has been around for years and (in 90% of cases) is inferior to the bow; similarly, the mace, as it is now, does not replace the sword. It seems more like a PvP weapon or for extremely specific cases, but with that damage and durability, and without being able to be enchanted, it is not a viable weapon today for end-game survival. Honestly, I trust (although with Mojang it can sometimes be difficult) that they will work to improve the weapon so it can compete with the sword in normal use. If they improve it, it could be a very good weapon; otherwise, it will remain in the drawer with the crossbow or the trident, which nobody uses in the day-to-day of a survival game.

And it wouldn't really be conceptually very difficult to improve the mace to make it a wonderful weapon. At the very least, it should support Unbreaking and Mending, and Looting would be quite nice because otherwise it would be quite inconsistent with the sword. And then, by making it like the sword and having, for now, one type of enchantment for damage and one type of enchantment to enhance the special ability, would be sufficient; then you can work on rarer things that would also be very good, but for now, this would be enough, I think.

Overall, I love the mace. It’s so satisfying to kill things from way up. That said, I do think there are some things that need to be changed to make it better.

Set a cap to the maximum damage you can deal from falling. One-shotting bosses is a bit much.

Make a netherite variant. With how rare this thing is, it would be an absolute tragedy to lose it in lava, the fear of which would seriously discourage people from using it in the nether and (to a lesser extent) in caves.

Not sure how I would fix it, but the fact that this would be the only weapon with a finite number of usable materials (the heavy core) is odd and, similar to the lack of a netherite variant, will discourage people from using it in any but the safest of circumstances for fear of losing it.

As others have suggested, give it a special enchantment similar to sweeping edge that makes the impact from a strike not just push nearby entities around, but actually do some damage. Also make it enchantable with the standard stuff like mending and unbreaking.

    it's pretty cool :
    - the single target damage, the fall damage suppression, and the mechanic by itself are pretty much perfect, wonderfull job
    - the knockback is very uninpactfull, jumping on a swarm of zombies for exemple barely does anything, the knockback isnt strong enough to escape or follow up, and doesnt do any damage nor gives any statuts effects (like a stun or a slow), it needs a rework
    - the feedbacks for a high hit arnt impactfull enough, the unique sound could be higher volume (same kind of feedback as a tf2 critical hit sound maybe), there is no cool particles, and you barely see the impact of the knockback
    - finaly, the weapon could (probably) benefit from a well designed 3D model, like the tridant or the spyglass

I love the mace! but i have a few suggestions

1 make the mace 3d like in Minecraft dungeons

2 tough mobs like the warden and ender dragon should not get one shot UNLESS hit in the head. The wither would have to get hit in the head 3 times.

3add an enchantment maybe to the helmet to allow reduced damage when hit by it

4 instead of no fall damage it would reduce fall damage unless u have father falling

5Dont one shot mobs with the helmet enchant that reduces damage  this enchant (for the sake of this example) could be called anti mace

6Maybe add slime boots along with the wind charge?

And that's all keep it up Mojang!

The Mace would be a requirement to use the Smithing Table for any purpose, and the mace loses 1 durability when used on a smithing table.

    • Villagers require this item to restock at smithing tables, consuming 1 durability per restock.

It would be great if you can enchant the mace with channeling, knockback (making bigger the knockback recieved by opponent near yor target) or sharpness.

Heya! I think, the mace's TOO imbalance! Like, you can literally one-shot anyone. So, you can make like maximum damage is 20 HP (10 hearts) and add enchantment which add some damage to them, maybe like +20HP (or less, but I think 20 is better). OR! You can actually make fascinating thing, make one single enchantment stackable to 10(I mean, unlike sharpness, which is only 5)! Then enchantment can add 8 damage. I hope, my idea is great for minecraft.

I can only see the Mace being particularly useful in PVP rather than in a singleplayer survival world, at least as it is now. In an ordinary singleplayer world, a Diamond or Netherite Sword with all the usual enchantments like Smite and Looting is fine enough, and the Mace currently feels a bit situational.

It's perfectly reasonable that you can't increase its damage through enchantments given how powerful its main ability can potentially be. However, I feel like you should still be able to at least put enchantments like unbreaking and mending on it, seeing as you only have a 2.2% chance to get a heavy core from a vault, and the actual weapon's durability isn't too great. Also I feel like you should be able to put looting on it. Ever since the Looting enchantment was added to the game, Swords are the only weapon that has ever made use of it, and having another weapon that could make use of Looting would breathe some more life into that enchantment.
This weapon could also make great use of the knockback enchantment, as it's ground-slam shockwave could push enemies even further away, making it even greater for crowd control.

I also think the Mace should be a 3D model when held, and a sprite in the inventory like the Trident. The Mace looks rather odd when held as it currently is.

The Mace is a very interesting and unique idea, but it could be so much more, and I am really looking forward to seeing what becomes of it in the near future. This update is looking fantastic overall.
