Let’s talk about Add-Ons!

With Add-Ons, you can add custom blocks, items, mobs, recipes, and other game content to your worlds. For example, you can download a furniture Add-On that gives you access to 100+ different pieces of furniture, or a dragon Add-On that introduces a roster of 20+ rideable dragons, or a quality-of-life Add-On that places a gravestone where you die, safely storing items until it is broken.

With the launch of Add-Ons we are eager to get your feedback! Alongside your general feedback, we also have some specific questions which we’re hoping to help us as we continue to improve the Add-Ons experience in Bedrock. 

  • How was the process to discover Add-Ons in the Bedrock Marketplace?  
  • How easy was it to get an Add-On from the Marketplace and apply it to a new World?   
  • Did you have challenges activating Add-Ons to your new or existing worlds?  
  • Was it difficult to learn how to use your Add-On?  
  • Did you run into any issues while playing Add-Ons? 
  • What sort of Add-Ons would you like to see in the future? 
  • Did you know you could combine multiple Add-Ons in the same world? Was it difficult to combine Add-Ons?

    I absolutely love this addition especially that these add one feel like actual mods and actually add to the game rather than the old add ons which just replaced things. My favorite ones so far have been dragon fire and decocraft. My one problem that I have with a lot of these addons(as well as a lot of other addons attached to worlds) is that a lot of the new “blocks” are coded as entities, I understand this is easier for coding and programming interactions but it’s really annoying having a chair with health points or looking for furniture in creative mode and having to scroll through spawn eggs. I have two major requests, my first request is that there should be additional tabs in creative mode added for each add on to separate the items from the vanilla stuff(similar to Java) because right now it gets really messy and disorganized and hard to find stuff. My second request is for you guys to Please add chisel and bits, minecraft comes alive, doggy talents, a magic mod, the wings mod, bibliocraft, and custom npcs, as the next addons. it would be amazing. thanks.

    With the addition of addons and the developer himself working in mojang can we see the Aether come to the marketplace as an addon?

    I personally like the idea of add-ons and I would be very happy if something like backpacks would be given as an add-on for the early game :)

    First of all, congratulations to Bedrock Edition for finally having its own separate add-ons market.

    However, I am concerned about the prospects of paid add-ons. It is well known that due to Mojang's own laziness and stinginess, the Bedrock Edition community has long been far less vibrant than the Java Edition. With players already able to see many high-quality mods available for the Java Edition, I doubt there will be much motivation left for them to pay. For Bedrock Edition to take money from players, it needs to offer add-ons of extremely high quality... But guess what? The interfaces Mojang has opened up are not even as good as those in MC China Edition. Add-ons there mostly consist of entities.

    Bedrock Edition, as a stable version that can be played across multiple platforms, with Microsoft stepping in almost from scratch, should have been able to fix most of Java Edition's downsides and have a brilliant future. But now it's like a zombie, already dead but still moving.

    Please open up more interfaces and encourage the community to create high-quality add-ons. The Bedrock Edition market could become a very promising money tree.

    Also, get rid of that xxxx render dragon so players can create their own shader packs, or do it yourselves and release an official shader pack. Or buy each player an RTX 4090.

    Even though we've said so much, will Mojang do it? Looking back over the past decade, I can pessimistically sentence all of this to death.

    I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

    Please work on letting Macs be compatible with add-ons! I really want some of these on my laptop because I play this version a lot more than the bedrock version on my iPad!

    We need Shulkerboxes evolved. I want more advanced Shulker boxes.

    I love the add-ons and as long as Mojang keeps them bug free and updated, I don't mind paying for some. There are a ton of add-ons that I'd like to see in the marketplace. I need some kind of pirate add on with customizable ships. Addons like more sturctures, better villages, and expansive biomes would be nice as well.
    Can't wait to see where this all goes and I hope the add-ons continue to get better.

    I paid for several of the new add-on but none of them will load up on any new world.How do i fix this problem?

    Mojang, I like the addons and I guess I’m kindof fine with with paying for them on occasion if they’re good, but please please can we get some actually good addons. I’m talking stuff not like less than 5% of the player base will use like secret laser base defense or mecha armor or mob armor or chest buddy etc. I’m talking things like minimaps, from the fog stuff, more structures, more biomes, 100 day progressively more difficult challenges etc. things that improve/enrich the game, not change it altogether. The naturalist add on is easily the best one that I have no doubt is the leading non-free add on y’all have released. Please add more like that one. I know yall have to cater to the entire community which has younger ones that like that more silly stuff but you also still have a massive player base of mature gamers that love the survival aspect of the game. Thank you for hearing me out. Love the 1.21 update coming out by the way.

    Hey All! I really hope that someone at the top (in the know) is paying attention to these comments. There are a lot of good suggestions and most have common ground. I am so excited for Add-ons that I find myself checking for new ones almost everyday. Is there a specific release day for Add-ons? I don't mind spending money for them as long as they are consistently updated and bug fixes are frequent. Please, please keep it coming! Now is not the time to slow down as I feel more console players, who love the game and has always wanted to customize their game play, will definitely make a resurgence.

    Please give us a proper Poisonous Potato Update Add-On that adds all the features from the Minecraft Java Poisonous Potato Update to every version of Minecraft Bedrock.


    The Update Java players received was lightyears better than the Bedrock Add-On. It's unfair that console players won't get to use all these amazing features, and have to make do with stuff that absolutely pales in comparision.

    I think that there should be an ingame content creator with like drag and drop or something so people can more easily make their own addons with stuff like mobs, weapons, items, particles, structures and maybe even biomes. I think this would be a great way to get more people involved in the community.

    I love it and I was wondering if you could think about minecraft comes to life as a add on or more painting add ons or expansive biomes add on which would be even better. I already spent so much money playing with the add ons and I love it still.

    So I have a Nintendo and the addons are absolutely AMAZING by themselves. But I added three or four addons to an already existing world and it kept crashing over and over saying that the software close due to an error. So I added the addons to a new world and it worked for a little bit then the software closed again. I think the Nintendo Minecraft needs a little bit more TLC and attention to it. There are SO MANY bugs and other things. Please make Nintendo Minecraft better! Does it have a limit to how many addons you can! have or what ??

    Please could you lower the price of add-ons ? A lot of these don't even deserve to exist, like sticker add-on or chest buddy, even mob armor. Only good add-ons should remain, like naturalist. We already paid for the game, so it's kind of annoying to pay twice the price of the game to get things that should be free and made by community, instead of people that want to make money from it.

    And please make a add-ons that allow to use chat proximity.

    We love it and its not bad to pay for it but we need army addons with guns,tanks and granade i will buy every singel one if it get added.

    I am a bit confused. The add ons are available in the Nintendo Switch, yet none of them work for long, as everything keeps crashing due to dependency IDs. You are charging for these add ons, and yet they do not work. How can Mojang, or any console company open these add ons for sale...and they do not work? What and when will there be a fix? I am not spending another dime until I can purchase something that works.

    We need to be able to share our addon on our own servers.
    I have a dedicated server that me, my kids, step kids and close family and friends with there children also play. Why can't I as an admin buy a pack from the store and add that to my server?why is that so hard to do when an add-on from anywhere else or self made can be added so "easily"?.

    I think addons are a good idea, but why do we have to pay for them? I feel like they should be free. I wish this was more like Java mods. I feel like it would be a better idea instead of addons add a "new" marketplace that is just mods from CurseForge so that the game is more fun and we don't have to wait for a week for new addons.
