Bad idea, just keep it as experiment. I don't want my saving to take up too much space that it requires a removable hard drive to migrate.

Maybe villagers do need to be nerfed, but not like this. Maybe make it so that villagers need to have a "successful" gathering portion of their day, in order to restock trades. Also, players who whine about crazy trades after curing villagers are shortsighted. Curing villagers multiple times, especially in normal mode already takes a lot of luck, risk, and skill. Taking that risk multiple times should be rewarding.

Dear developers, PLEASE don't make this change with the villagers. I've never even achieved to make a trading hall because I'm not as skillful as other players. I also don't like exploring as much and I like "staying put" in a place and make my base there. I'd suggest you make these changes optional and to not make the game less enjoyable for different playstyles. The wandering trader change is very useful in my opinion. I hope you consider my (and the other's) opinion and make this change optional. Thank you.

This is definitely a bad idea to force people go and search for biomes by taking away things that are with us for such a long time. If trying to make player to go and search biome is what is intended with this change, add more biome specific things.

It actively ruins many things. For example, my world spawned with only one desert, the size of a beach. Meaning I would have to try very complex methods to get these. Not even mentioning the idea of super flat worlds, this experimental update will ruin the experience for the casual player. A much better idea I found was to give certain villages certain trades like deserts trading cacti. Costal trading turtle shell/scute. Nerfing librarians will make the casual experience a much more torturous expirence.

It seems that BE has an automatic fishing machine. If you don't fix it, the librarian nerf may be wasted.

This change brings something that I always looked forward to and enjoyed in every new world, and crushes it. Making trades dependent on biomes will only make life more annoying. There’s not a single good part about this change. It’s just flat out boring.

Yeahhhh on average I spend about 5 hours setting up a villager breeder and that's the breeder alone, then spending about 15 minutes to an hour to get the desired enchantment, mending or otherwise, is arbitrary enough, and new players are not going to come across this on accident. Please do not change the current villager system. The amount of time spent on this will have increased increasingly diminishing returns and ultimately won't be worth it.

These like many of the recent changes seem to be targeted at slowing the pace of the game.

I’ve watched several YouTube videos demonstrating how someone can quickly get all the villagers needed in order to get all the books under the current system and how this change only slightly slows down experienced players.

The issue isn’t experienced players. I experienced players are always going to optimize, find the short cuts and yes, these changes might slow them down, for an hour.

But how long will it slow down an inexperience player? How will their game play be effected? What is pointing them to the swamp, and swamp villagers to get an enchant that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the game?

This is effectively removing the enchant for any new solo player until they discover it through some outside the game means.

This change seems like a a lot of work for very little actual change to the experienced player while being overly punitive to the inexperienced player.

Master villagers should give maximum level books. It’s interesting to have to travel to different biomes to get some enchantments, but you should be able to have the ability to enchant items without traveling each time.

I like the proposed change to the wandering trader. I've maybe twice ever wanted to buy something from him, but have frequently wished that I could sell him something.

I like the idea behind the villager trade changes, but it's missing something.
First, I would have never ever thought to attempt to build a DIY village in any biome, except for whichever one my base is in. If trades are locked behind biomes, natural villagers should be available on all of them.
Second, I think enchanting needs an overhaul. I like the idea of enchanting tables being "connected" to chiseled bookshelves, and whatever enchanted books are placed in those bookshelves determine the enchantments available to be imbued into the equipment placed on the enchanting table. Maybe books will have their own durability to balance this?
Third, moving villagers is a pain. It would be cool if they could be lured by holding an object like is done with animals. Possible bread for adults and/or cookies for children? Or maybe something more specific to the profession, such as a book for a librarian or a brick for a mason?

I think we should keep the old villiger trading but each specific villiger should each have a brand new enchantment books making 7 new enchantments to collect after maxing out that specific villiger

In my opinion, I think that the wandering Trader changes are an excellent change with the diamond generation change, as for the librarian villager change, I found it bad and I prefer to keep the old way, because it is something that will be very complicated for new players and boring for old players.

I don't like the biome specific change to villager trades. I play primarily on a Nintendo Switch. All my saves have to share the 1GB memory allotment–my worlds, backups, creative test worlds, and resource packs. My nearest swamp is 6000 blocks away according to Chunkbase. Transporting villagers is already one of the least fun chores. Even if I get to go by boat, I am constantly circling around waiting for the chunks to load in before I can go again. Overland is a nightmare. Then I have to worry about how much this will bloat my save file. Mending isn't the best enchantment because it helps us beat a monster or anything like that, it's because for many folks it makes the game more playable and fun by allowing us to concentrate on the mining, building, and surviving we love. It's a quality of life and accessibility feature. That isn't something you want to make less attainable.

I am totally good with limiting discounts for rebalancing, and I love the changes to the wandering trader. I feel like the wandering trader buying items is a great idea. I also fully support expanding the sales inventory. I know superflat players in particular are always hoping for wandering traders to have items they can't get in their worlds like bamboo.

My biggest concern is the curing limit. Make it harder to get to max discounts (tier II potions required or something) but keep a way in the game for players to make a 60 emerald book low enough to be worth it. Thanks devs, keep it up!

Requested tweaks to this proposed system:

-give zombie villagers a random and permanent biome affiliation. Gives an alternate path to getting swamp and jungle villagers that is a "reasonable" amount of work. This helps, especially, for sky block and other single biome worlds (like flat world).

-create fixed costs for each enchanted book @each level.

-master level librarian trades should randomize between the top 3 levels of an enchantment. Sharpness 3,4, or 5 should be possible and the costs properly scaled between them.

-give the wandering trader a single book trade (random book random level) with a trade cap of 3.

-master level fisherman should offer luck of the sea and lure instead of the boat trade

-master level leather worker could offer frost walker in addition to the saddle trade

-elder guardians should have a high or guaranteed chance to drop a randomly enchanted Trident (as if someone tried and failed to kill it previously)

-increase "hero of the village" discount

    -bow enchants moved to Fletcher

I like the idea of this change but I think it needs improvement. I think to keep it the way you've done it, Jungle and Swamp villages are a must so there is an in game way to find them, and then you can add a bunch of new biome types that we have to breed to get that have different book tables with different mash ups. Add the variety while keeping the ease and repeatability. It's a lot but I think a new villager type for most biomes would be AMAZING and it keeps both fun parts from each method. Right now a plains librarian will give you Bane of Arthropods, Smite, Punch, and Protection. Now let's add a mountain villager that'll sell Smite and Punch still, but Take Thorns from the dessert and Flame from the Taiga. Rince and repeat for another handful of biomes (the more the better ofc) and this will even give way to include the missing trident, crossbow, and fishing rods! The community would LOVE a few more villages (Jungle, swamp, and maybe a beach/ocean one?) and it would justify these changes much more.

These changes wouldn’t be so bad, if the chances of zombie villagers spawning were greater in jungles and swamps. Then the discount would already be known when rerolling to get the best price.  Since the jungle and swamps are hot and humid biomes, any abandoned wooden structures would rot away in short order. These biomes could have ghost villages in them. A damaged well and cobblestone fence posts that could have been the foundation of stilt houses. These villages could also spawn zombie villagers at night, since ghosts come out at night, which could be cured for villager trading halls.  Some buried barrels or chests in the ghost villages that have a couple of the biome specific books for those that play on peaceful. And possibly encourage loitering after dark.  Have chiseled bookshelves generate in villager libraries that have a book with a poem or a riddle alluding to the ghost villages in swamps and jungles.

"I once heard of a group of villagers that mended and hardened tools. They made their home deep in the steamy areas. I wonder if a visit will will find them once more. Oh, oh oh, and melons!"

Not a fan of restricting enchants behind certain biomes. As a casual player, this makes it insanely difficult to get good enchantments. I don't want to have to needlessly grind hours to get good enchantments by transporting villagers thousands of blocks to the biome in question, especially when it's already difficult to find a majority of the biomes you're using for these guys. Maybe if I was a hardcore MC grinder where I enjoyed spending days on one single task this would be nice, but since I only play 1-2 hours a day since that's how much time I've got, this just ruins the fun of being able to get good tools and armor to fight the various bosses.

Hope this either gets scrapped or completely rethought.

What I'm wondering is how existing villager trades will change when updating the old version. I wonder if only the biome will be taken over and the transaction will be reset, or if the biome and proficiency will be taken over.

Love it.  Current librarian trading situation encourages tedious lectern-scumming to get a complete set of OP enchantments (they're available, so how can you not?).  These changes would mitigate that AND have the added bonus of encouraging travel to different biomes, which I love (exploration is core to what makes Minecraft special, but without incentives to travel it is easy to end up hunkering down in one spot).  Kudos on these changes, which will continue the trend started by archaeology to give us mid/late-game reasons to move around.  Keep up the good work!

The wandering trader changes are good, the only thing i would really say would improve it would be for it to sell more items from different biomes that players may not have access to (not too rare or op items though). It will be nice when the wandering trader is less of a “wandering scammer”.

I like the idea of different villager biome variants having unique uses but I do not think this is the way to implement it. Librarians needed a nerf but this is too much! Villagers are extremely painful to deal with and move around. And they don’t even sell the max tier for a lot of enchants, which means more combining, which means everyone will end up hitting the anvil “too expensive” limit more often. And with more and more enchantments being added, this limit DEFINITELY needs to be higher (100 instead of 60?)

The new librarians changes are not good like it is easier to me just to not do it which makes them usless
Because in Minecraft bedrock its really hard to find a specific biome close to you which makes the game harder but in a boring way
    So no don't change librarians
Other than that everything is good!
(Idea): if you want you can add a specific item that only swamp villagers sell a new rare item it would be cool to see that

I think this change would be great if rather than having to move villagers to a central location for a trading hall, you could "teach" librarian villagers how to enchant a book by giving or selling it to them. So if you get a villager in a certain biome for an enchantment you need, you can buy the book and then bring it back to your home "village" to let the librarians there learn the book.

The other way this change would make sense to me would be if it were easier to transport villagers.
