I really love this idea. Having mountains up to a thousand blocks tall would be super impressive. I always feel like the mountains in Minecraft are too small, so this would be an excellent solution!

I think that the powdered snow should be much more dangerous, so maybe half of a heart every second to incentivize avoiding it or wearing leather.
