This is also much easier to craft than bookshelves.

    Dear Mojang team,

I think it would be good, that inside the chiseled bookshelf, the different types of book can have different textures, like a normal book brown, enchanted book glowy (and maybe have the initials of the enchant and the number). That would make us see what books are in the bookshelf from outside, rather than needing to take the book to see.

Also, if you redesign the stronghold, please put chiseled bookshelf in the library

Good development on the 1.20 excellent update

These new bookshelves are amazing! I have wanted this to be added for years. However, the method for adding and removing books does not work well. When you click on the shelf there should be a 6 slot inventory that opens. This will allow you to easily organize your books.

I think that chiselled bookshelves will be an amazing revolutionary new feature in Minecraft!

It would be great though if right clicking a book on the chiselled bookshelf would bring up the same interface as the lectern. This way you could know which book is which before making the decision to take it off the shelf. In real life bookshelves you can see the name of the book on the spine before taking it off.

This is a feature I've been wanting for a long time, specifically after these were updated to allow us to pick and choose specific books to take out. I understand this is a large scope of an ask, but it would be even cooler if the textures of the books inside the Chiseled Bookshelves matched the type of book that is in each slot. I'm wondering if this is more possible now, with the addition of paletted permutations!!

I would love to see a texture for each slot, be based on what book type was inserted. And allow Pack makers to define new ones. It'd make it slightly easier to see where certain books were stored.

It's been said a few times, but the Chiseled Bookshelf GUI really does need a UI. That's the only issue I have with this block.

As someone who's the key audience that Mojang is aiming for with the Chiseled Bookshelf, it'd definitely help improve the "lore" of builds, but I really wish we could see at least the titles of all the books in there. That's mainly why I'm suggesting this because I can't really think of any other way to see the titles of books stored on the bookshelf.

I can't make a mock-up image right now, but I'm imagining it would look kinda like the hopper's GUI except with one extra slot. Maybe the actual player inventory can be minimized, or the bookshelf can show on one side sort of like the horse/llama GUI.

This is probably my favorite block in Minecraft as of yet, but I think if a GUI is added, it'll be perfect.

Its finally time for bookshelf variants in each wood type.

Id settle for a dark oak version. Some contrast is sorely needed for both regular and chiseled bookshelves.

this has been needed for a while but hope there is some way to plan what your book will look like before you put it on the shelf even if its UI "published form" doesnt change

What about adding an inventory to this Block with 6 Slots so you can easy Take the First book without Put another 5 unstackable items in Ur inv also you can See what types of books are in the chiseled bookshelfs Just by hovering over the books and See the enchantments

They should bei found in Strongholds so we can delete the Cheats with enchanted books(i Hope U Guys will add them Back to the lootpool of stronghold libary chests) and replace them with the new Block filled with some enchanted books

Feels like they would be better if they had a chest/inventory interface so you didnt have to take everything out at once to get the first item placed in

I have one suggestion with the bookshelfs in the latest release.

It would be nice when a writen book is in the chisled bookshelf that it displays its name and auther in the actionbar when selected or hovered over with crosshair or touch control. It would allow players to know what book they are taking out instead of taking out each book one by one until you find the book your looking for.

Let the books be dyed and their dye color be displayed on the bookshelf.
Depending on what type of book is, it'll have different designs or features.
Normal books can be dyed or not and they'll show their color on the bookshelf.
Writing books can show a feather in the side on the bookshelf.
Enchanted books will have their glint when they're on the bookshelf.

Chiseled Bookshelves in Strongholds with books(entchanted, storys) in them🥺

The usage of the name Chiseled Bookshelves kind of disallows for any future creation of stone-made bookshelves - which I'm not here to comment on the importance of - but allowing for stone bookshelves' use of this name instead should be considered.

The thing I'm most interested in, in regards of bookshelves though, is the ability to make them with different wood textures. Oak bookshelves in spruce houses is a bit distracting

I love this idea, but it feels sad to get chiseled bookshelves BEFORE getting bookshelves for different types of woods.

I'm super excited for this. Not only could it help me make a library, but I could make card racks, newspaper racks at the subway station... the possibilities are endless!

It would be great to have more variants of the upcoming new Chiseled Bookself, depending on what type of planks is used to craft the shelf.

For example, using Oak Planks, you'd get the standard Chiseled Bookshelf. Or if you used Cherry Planks, you'd get a pink variant of the bookshelf.

This change would let player have more options and have more ways to customize their builds, which fits this update (1.20) perfectly, especially now that Trims are coming to the game. "Customisation and personalisation." It would also fit in into the Storytelling aspect too, as building could be seen as a way of story telling.

We reaaally need to be able to distinguish books and take specific books. I was really excited for chiseled bookshelves but they're unusable in their current state, no point in storing books on something that makes it harder to organize. Wood variations with bookshelves would be cool but the formerly mentioned features are more important. I really want to use these in game

What about if you fill a chiseled bookshelf with a certain enchantment and put it near a enchantment table it makes it more likely that you will get that enchantment. Just a quick idea I had.

EACH TYPE OF BOOK NEEDS AN INDIVIDUAL TEXTURE TO BE ABLE TO TELL WHAT KIND OF BOOK IT IS!

Maybe make them the same colour as they are as items? Brown for normal books, purple for enchanted books and red for book & quill.

It would be cool if you could dye written books and then they would match the color of the books on the bookshelves.

It would make sense because you can dye leather armor in the game.

Chiseled Bookshelves should be able to be filled with some form of Lapis Lazuli, which would possibly take that form in craftable "Lapis Lazuli Bundles", or "Bundles of Lapis Lazuli". Inside a Chiseled Bookshelf they would enhance the bookshelf's influence on Enchantment Tables, and would also exist as a very efficient way to store Lapis Lazuli, as a single bundle would contain 8 Blocks of Lapis Lazuli, and a single book place would hold 3 bundles.

I think it's fine, but I think a graphical interface is needed to see what book there is, in the times I've used it, it took me a long time looking for the book I need to enchant my armor, even though I try to organize it by enchantment.

The updated version of the Chiseled Bookshelves has left a great impression on me. The ability to add and remove books individually by selecting specific areas of the block is an impressive improvement. I acknowledge the challenges involved in developing such a block and applaud the developers for their work.

LIBRARY DIRECTORY: Maybe it could be just a book on a lectern, but REAL BOOKSHELVES mean a possibility for REAL LIBRARIES! (I can hardly contain my excitement) Perhaps "registered books" could have a system of identities like the dewy decimal system? (Checking books out makes things a bit complicated...) Maybe it could just be education edition... :(

It would be great if there was some type of interface to tell what type of books and its name in it.

I think that, instead of the UI being just a chest interface when right-clicked, it could show the title of the book if the crosshair is pointing at it.

For example, if you point your crosshair at a slot, a box, similar to that of items names, shows up beside your crosshair with the name and properties of the book.

This addition would be much lighter than a full on interface while showing the item.
