Camels should spawn by Desert Wells rather than Desert Villages as that will give Desert Wells a purpose.

The camel has an amazing model, but the neck looks a bit off. The camel could have a slightly less "z" shaped neck, and the neck should be counted in the hitbox, since at the moment the camel's neck can go inside a block at it seems wrong. They should also have some sort of taming mechanic, and make it different and hard to tame, because camels are known for their stubbornness in real life as well. Many of the other comments are correct too so that leaves me nothing more to add. Looking forward to this coming to Minecraft soon!

I am in LOVE with the camels they feel like a great addition to the game

    but...

I find the "only spawning in desert villages" thing to be really arbitrary and it makes it very hard to make more camels. Because (as of my findings) only one camel spawns in these villages at once and you need two camels to breed them

So please make camels spawn in deserts (not just villages) or make the villages have two or three camels spawn in them

Thank you for reading and I hope the development is going smooth!

There should be some unique element to breeding camels, the way frogs have variants based on biomes, horses can have stat and visual variants, cats and dogs having texture variants, or pandas have personality variants. Camels are very known for being bred for all sorts of purposes, from racing to beauty, and there are many species and looks camels have, so it would be really cool if there was some sort of variation to them like other domestic and rideable animals!

I recommend that the camel should be able to put its mouth by any cactus & drink water from it without getting damaged or losing hearts/health points.

That's a dromedary. I made a post talking about it. You can check it out, if you want to.

This will be very good if one of the hostile mobs is afraid of camel

To make camels more useful, you should be able to put a villager on a camel so you can transport them a lot easier.

Camels should be able to spawn in the desert outside of desert villages. After all, the desert is their natural habitat.

I still feel like they should at least walk like camels, if frogs get a funky little bobbing animation, getting a camel to do that distinct swaying walk would be acceptable and nice to have.

The camel should run a bit faster

Edit: I've changed my opinion after using the camel a bit more. It's actually fairly quick without making horses redundant.

It would be cool if the camel was able to attack mobs when performing the jump animation. However, I don't know if it is in the "spirit of minecraft".

Short mobs should be able to hit you if the Camel is sitting down making it a bit more dangerous than just being able to ride the camel indefinitely and just afk farm.

Wither Skeletons for some reason can hit you being 3 blocks high but Enderman can't, both should be able to hit you given how tall they are.

There should be the option for the passenger to be a mob so that it is useful for players who already have elytra.

Add keybind mapping for controls while your working on the input behaviors for camels so we can do more custom keybinding stuff for Minecraft Maps!

I do not like that they named the mob "Camel". Camel is used to name the singular specific species the Bactrian camel, or the genus where both camels and dromedaries are in. To put it simply; I think that the mob Camel should be named Dromedary. The mob we see represents a Dromedary in every way exept the name.

Because it is true that this new animal is in the genus Camelus, but I really think that we should name it after what species it is, and not what genus it belongs to. Because i do not think that players are going to conscious think of the camelid genus, (wich is a part of the family Camelidae), when they see this bright long-legged ungulate with a singel hump. I would think that players would unconsciously expect to see the name of the species of the mobs they see.

I feel that calling it by its genus name camel is like naming the mob panda as bear, or the mob pig as swine, or name us humans as hominidae; great apes.

Or almost like calling the mob panda as Sloth bear, or the mob pig as boar, or name us humans as chimpanzee. They are both in each example are closely related, but still different.

It is still early in the development. The sooner they could change the name to the species instead, the better. Especially before it reaches all players when 1.20 itself comes out.

We should have 2 types of camel: Dromedery and Bactrian.

May one spawns in Deserts and the other in Mesas?

I love the camel, but I think it would be best that there would be a mechanic to getting more camels to spawn at an already existing desert village. Possibly, whenever you get hero of the village, and you're in a desert village, one camel will spawn. This can make it so people don't have to travel thousands of blocks for new chunks just to find a new village for a single camel. This would make it so much easier, and a bit more fun. Obviously, the rate could be changed, like where there's only a chance you get gifted a camel as hero of the village.

I think Mojang is trying to stop players from just making automatic farms for everything and going afk. Actually having to search for a camel is a lot better in my opinion, although 1-3 should spawn at desert villages.
