Make camels take damage in cold biomes.

Husks can still reach the player. The camel is a desert mob, and so are husks. If the husk can reach the player then the "out of reach" idea will become another worthless mechanic.

Maybe this is caused by the husk's extra tall hitbox on the Bedrock edition.

Add the ability to put pouches on camels and llamas.

Some mobs not being able to attack players on camels seems OP considering there’s already so many ways to cheese and gimp the already unchallenging monsters. Monsters should attack the camel if they can’t reach the player.

Since camels spawn in villages, it would make sense to allow players to transport villagers using camels. This would really make the camel a more unique mount, since no other mount has this ability.

I think thats a good think to add camels in game! It makes it much easier to travel in desert bioms and also can be an alive storage and you can also have a safe ride at night! Thats awsome!!!

Desert villages should each come with a stable of some sort for their camels. It's quite odd that a mob that's designated to a specific structure can just walk around and leave whenever it pleases.

While a nice aesthetic addition to the desert environment, I don't feel like the camel has much of a way to carve out its own niche in Minecraft's current sandbox.

The fact it is a two-seater is worthless in singleplayer, the security it offers from melee mobs is better offered by a horse's sheer speed, while the long jump "dash" both doesn't feel fitting for the otherwise slow and steady camel to have and can still be mostly matched by some of the more agile horses.

Giving it storage capacity would turn it into little more than a desert llama or donkey, giving it armor to make it a proper warmount would make it step further into the horse's territory and giving it some sort of useful, unique drop is out of the question since you wouldn't want to teach people, that breeding camels for slaughter is a good idea. Getting more fantastical with additional features also seems tough to make work, since the camel is so squarely based on real life, so ideas of that sort would just feel out of place.

I have no idea what could be done to make them truly stand out in terms of mechanics.

There could be a stable for camels in desert villages that could have a possibility of camels spawning there with chest, saddles, leads, cactus and other camel related items as its potential loot. have the building include inside and outside and have a elevated platform to stand on like they have at zoo's to help you get on. Have a pond or drinking trough for the camels . Have cactus in there as blocks spawned there that act like hay blocks do to horses where it heals them up to a certain heart amount.

Have a eating and drinking animation for camels. Eating animation when the camel is feed the prickly pear cactus and when it finds and eats the cactus from the plant itself. Animation for both sitting and standing position of the animal.

What if the player can feed the camel a cactus flower, and the camel can run as fast as horses, but for a short time.

I suggest camels randomly eating cactus from the desert. Just the top portion. Just like the rabbits. I think it'll be a cool tidbit and show how they are adapted to their habitat. If sheep and cows and horses and donkeys can eat grass why not have camels eat cacti? It doesn't even need to drop it. Just eat it.

I love the new Camels, but there is a few changes and features that I would like to see happen that relates to Camels and 1.20...

    1. The animation for Camels is currently inaccurate to its real life counterpart. They're one of the few animals to have a pacing as its walking type. Pacing is where both legs on the same side move at the same time. They do not alternate like most animals.

    2. Camels do eat Cactus in real life, but they also eat Prickly Pears which is a type of fruit found in Cacti. From memory, Prickly Pears was originally a planned feature included to the Badlands in the Minecraft Live 2019 Biome Vote. It lost to the Mountains alongside Mangrove Swamps. The latter eventually got added to 1.19's infamous "The Wild Update". I think it is very fitting to include either just the Prickly Pears and its cactus, or all the features that was shown for the Badlands from that Biome Vote. (also add whatever was in the Biome Votes for Desert and Savannah, they seem to fit the warmth of whatever this update is supposed to be)

    3. Camels in real life can have carpet, armour and storage on them. Pretty much just combine functionality of Llamas, Horses and Donkeys in one.

For educational purposes, the Camel needs to use syncopated walk, where two legs move almost exactly at the same time, followed by the other two legs.

in the real world camels can be used to carry a lot of stuff so it's a good thing if camels in minecraft can be fitted with chest.

Camels are known for spitting just as much as llamas, only camels spit should have a minor 2 second poison effect because in real life their spit contains stomach acid and can even blind people if it gets in their eyes, but not spit as often or rabidly as the llamas. They should also spit at hostile mobs, as well as at a person if they get hit.

This is a copy of my post that had 54 votes 2 days ago, but then I edited it and it's been like 2 days since it still haven't been approved.

Would be great if camels could transport not only second player, but also mobs, for example villagers. They would be great alternative to boats on land! Would make transporting villagers much easier. Especially that zombies couldn't attack them while on camel.

EDIT: I've seen some questions on how this idea could be implemented (there are some issues) and decided to give a few solutions to that here.

    • First thing being - how could we dismount mobs. For sure we don't want to kill camel like boats. I thought maybe entities can dismount, when player takes off a saddle. Another idea may be that they would do that after camel lays down after the journey.
    • Second thing - zombies getting on camels with villagers. I don't really see a problem here, because in boats we already can have both mobs. But I may have a simple solution - just make mobs being able to sit on camel only while it is in laying mode, so that when it gets up no zombie can sit on it (and villager is safely travellig).

In real life camels are used to transport things across the desert. It would be cool if we could put some kind of chest on the camel.

The camel would lose the ability to carry another person? It would also become slower?

Yes I'm aware of the donkey, but in real life we use donkeys and camels.

Camels should have a preferred temperature range kind of like how the striders have one, and while the dev team is at it, it would make sense to give all mounts a preferred climate they will try to move back towards if possible and have them move slower in the worst climates for them. Too much heat or cold and not enough food or water would slow anyone down.

Camels should sway due to a sort of two legs moving at once style of locomotion like they do in real life.

Could we please make a oasis biome/land feature where the camel's can naturally spawn. The camels spawning only on the desert villages is a bit odd. Like where do the villages get the camels? Also if they were to be adding a Oasis, it would be the perfect opportunity to finally introduce that new palm tree and wood sets from the biome vote.

    Camel Trains please!

Connecting camels together with leads to make a camel train would be awesome and very useful for bulk item transport. Especially with chest/bundle camels.

The connection would need to be reliable enough to not break when on relatively smoother terrain.

I just posted a comment suggesting a camel train. One extra thought that would make it more usable... The follow mechanic should have the camels following the actual path you walked and not just walk towards you. This would mean you could guide them around objects and they would take the exact same path as you and not get caught on any blocks or fall off a ledge.

If done properly the whole train of camels should be able to snake through a one block wide maze over the void without falling (eg useable on sky block paths).

After i played a little bit it seems that only one camel spawns in one village. Is it on purpose? If not, I hope it will be fixed

If desert oasis and meerkats are ever added in to the game camels should also spawn there

For camels to be useful for everyone, a second mob should be able to ride it. For example: a villager. This would make camels useful for even end game players, and make mob transportation easier and less stressful and hard.

Camels should spawn naturally outside of villages.
