Ever dreamed of making a beautiful bamboo build? Now's your chance! We're introducing a full bamboo wood set in update 1.20, complete with everything from stairs, mosaic blocks a unique new look for boats.

    Automatic farms aside.
    I think there needs to be a balance between harvesting regular wood and harvesting bamboo.
    Harvesting bamboo with a wooden sword is so much faster than harvesting wood with a fully enchanted Netherite Axe.

    Suggestions:

    • Making the plank block recipe require 9 bamboo.
    • Add longer breaktime with the Sword, similar to logs with Axe
      and adjust for type (wooden, stone, iron, diamond, netherite)

    While this wood type looks neat in isolation, it sticks out like a sore thumb when used to build in the environment you found it in, the saturated green of a jungle. So I'd say making the base version of these blocks from green bamboo with the current wood color only visible in places where you see the cross-section of the sticks would be better. The current version of the wood could then be attained by simply stripping those blocks as you would with logs.

    Honestly I believe that the bamboo should have an oxidation phase like Copper because how fresh Bamboo changes color slightly thru drying out. And with this could also add this mechanic to wood too because dead wood also becomes lighter over time from Sunlight

    The texture on top of the block should be having holes and placeing like log
    (vertical and horizontal) And we should have green type of bamboo then striped it with axe to be like normal one

    Bamboo woodset is great and the new addition of bamboo things too but i would like to suggest my opinion the bamboo dart and the bamboo pipes
    Let's start of with bamboo dart
    Bambo darts:bambo dart will be a projectile shooting weapon to stun mobs and to shoot

    Also dart will be crafted like arrows but with different items

    Bamboo pipes:these bamboo pipes will help water water to transport can grow plants and the pipe is facing the cauldron (from upper side of cauldron) the cauldron will fill with water and also if there's nothing in front of the pipe the droplets coming from the pipe will fill the block

    And also it'll be flamable

    Green Bamboo set can be added. Like copper oxidation bamboo can turn dry and yellow. We can use honeycomb to stop the drying process to keep it green.

    I think the raft should be 3 planks across the bottom and a shovel on top of the middle plank

    Like others have said I would really like a green variant of the wood type because that would look so visually pleasing. I would love to have a Bamboo Fence that looks just like regular green bamboo but in the shape of a fence.

    I'd have to heavily agree with some of the other users, a green version of this bamboo block set would be amazing. It would add more color variation to the current arsenal of wood types (which all are mostly warm tones apart from the warped stem and its block variants). The bamboo set would be a perfect way to include a green variant of the current wood types, another potential way to implement this green variant while also retaining the current yellow variant if desired could be to utilize the stripping wood mechanic applied to the bamboo sticks to get peeled bamboo. Maybe unpeeled natural bamboo could make the green variant and peeled bamboo could make the yellow variant of the bamboo wood type?

    the bamboo rafts should have a larger version where you could add another slot of raft to it so it could be bigger, and other, plenty of mobs, players can ride it because we have difficulties in transporting mobs in the ocean and bigger mobs riding a boat is looking kinda weird so this will really help them plus give the bamboo raft a difference to other boats aaand also rafts in real life have different versions it could be long and wide

    A green variation of the wood set. Maybe you craft the green bamboo planks how regular bamboo planks is crafted right now. To make the yellow bamboo or stripped planks, you would have to strip the green planks just like how you would strip logs.

    Rotatable bamboo planks please.

    I wanted a long horizontal support beam in my build made of bamboo, however but it did not look good because the bamboo plank texture only has the bamboo going vertical. This is not how bamboo would be used in the real world. It would be great if they could be rotated like with logs so the bamboo texture can go sideways. Thank you :)

    You should be able to stand on the rafts, it would give the raft more of a difference from the boat, plus it would feel like You’re in those exploration movies.

    add green bamboo block variant, the block will become dry with the passage of time and using beeswax will keep the green color of the block forever.

    So the mosaic blocks are apparently there to make up for the lack of log blocks in the bamboo wood set. What if you added an analogue to the log blocks to the bamboo set anyway: a bundle of bamboo sticks as a directional block, with 2 sides showing the cut ends. Maybe even in 2 variants, like all other wood types have, with the 'unstripped' variant in the much requested green.

    The bamboo block is crafted from 9 bamboo sticks, and this should be reversible, making this the compressed storage block for bamboo.

    Oh, and this new bamboo log block should be smeltable to charcoal, because only then will bamboo be a completely functional wood set.

     

    Edit after 22w45a: I think the crafting recipe for bamboo planks directly from bamboo sticks should be re-added, because how else will you make a crafting table if bamboo is your first and only wood type.

    An item that helps you ("the player") jump and extra 2.9 blocks.

    And you can use it also as a Bō Weapon.

    Bamboo rafts should have more uses.

    Right now as I understand, Bamboo rafts function the same as every other boat with a different texture. Even though I think they look really cool, I think there is already a lot boat varieties and making them different then just in texture would be better.

    Instead make the Bamboo rafts offer some new mechanic. Some of the comments suggest linking rafts together, which is a great idea. Personally I think they should be faster and, as a trade off, only allow one person to sit in them. Or you can have them move faster and, as a trade off, they can break when you run into stuff at full speed. Just some ideas. But please give consideration to adding a new boat mechanism to these rafts and not just be the same functionality as every other boat.

    Wandering Traders should offer 4-12 bamboo blocks for 2 emeralds... Otherwise, great feature! Definitely the best update since 1.16

    I like the new green bamboo block, but I would like that this block have the variants of the other block of bamboo and it will be more green like the bamboo plant

    Saw the new 22w45a snapshot. I preferred the 22w44a recipe for planks, with the block of bamboo being either crafted from or making 9 bamboo

    Who is the IDIOT wants bamboo planks made of 3x3 bamboo?
    2 bamboo = 1 stick, then 2 planks = 4 sticks
    8 bamboo = 2 planks = 4 sticks
    It makes sense

    If a developer hear me, it would be nice to add a 6 sided bamboo block for more decoration like a green plank if placed vertical!
