The Book Update
So I watched the 1.20 trailer and I'm super excited for bookshelves. I think before it's released they could do with some improvements though to make them more interactive and feel just like real life bookshelves. Here are my suggestions!
Each Bookshelf slot should be treated differently
In the trailer we saw that books could only be added or removed from the shelf like a stack where the most recently added book is the one that is taken from the shelf. Treat each of the 6 "Slots" as separate where each book is assigned the slot it is placed into.
Customizable books with unique texture in hand and on shelf
- Regular Books, Book n Quills and "Finished" Books (that haven't been customized) have the same spine.
- Finished Books can be dyed.
- Finished Books do not come with "enchanted glow" unless crafted with glowdust.
- Finished Books can have customizable spine "ridges" made of bone, iron, gold, diamond & netherite.
- Finished Books & Book n quills increase in size depending on how many pages it has (small/medium/large).
- The front of books can be designed like banners.
Pages can be removed
Sometimes you add too many pages, or have an entire section within the book you want removed. You should be able to do this.
Customizable text
Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and coloured writing!
Yep thats about it.
