Akin to Shulker Boxes, Echo Boxes are capable of portably storing 27 slots of items. Uniquely, multiple Echo Boxes can be linked together in a set, so they all “echo” the contents of eachother. I.E. adding or removing items from one Echo Box will add or remove them from all linked Echo Boxes.
Why?
Though Ender Chests are useful, they're only accessible by a single-player, & each player can only have 1. Echo Boxes provide more options for "cloud" storage, letting users take items on-the-go while linking back instantly to their main storage. It also keeps theft-protection a mechanic exclusive to the Ender Chest.
Using Echo Shards also provides a needed incentive to explore Ancient Cities, & keeps "echoing" in-theme with the item.
Linking Mechanics:
It starts with a container called the Echo Hub, crafted with a chest & 2 Echo Shards; this will be the central hub for Echo Boxes. Similar to how clicking on a Lodestone with a Compass will turn it into a Lodestone Compass (which is linked to that particular Lodestone), clicking on an Echo Hub with an empty Shulker Box will turn it into an Echo Box (linked to that particular Echo Hub). This way, linking multiple boxes to the same set of items doesn’t require more echo shards, but creating multiple different sets of items does.
Echo Hubs hold 27 slots, but unlike the Echo Boxes, they aren't portable: if an Echo Hub is broken, items inside pop out like a chest, & all corresponding echo boxes are unlinked: reverted to empty Shulker Boxes.
