As a person, who has hosted a few servers for years now, I can say, that this new report and ban system is really not a good idea. Please mojang, do not add this feature.

yikes! not a big fan of this report feature, perhaps an opt-out of reporting or opt-out of the ban list instead of an full ban would work better.

This Chat Report System doesn't make sence in Java. Something that makes Java - Version great, is the mass of individual, non Mojang Servers. By making this update, you are not only destroying this variety, no, you are furthermore supporting Missabuse of this system... Why should anybody be banned by Mojang from a Server with its own staff, why shouldn't someone, who is angry about the staff of a Server, reporting the owner and the staff so often, that your "well trained staff" can see, if this is right or not ?

This seems like a poorly thought out plan with many blatant issues, as made apparent by the, seemingly near identical, report system of bedrock which is rife with false bands and that’s even on a small amount of approved server. Over all this seems like a terrible decision which negatively effect the lives of players, and especially server owners and content creators who will be targeted with false bans and lose potential income from servers as there player bases could be 18+ or considered offensive to groups outside of the server even though they are causing no harm. Overall Minecraft should leave server moderation to the server as is the president and best way for communities to not be attacked by false reports. P.S. - The idea of banning people from single player or local play or WiFi/Ethernet is wrong and scummy making the game seem like a scam if you get falsely banned and spent $30 on then useless software.

This "moderation" update can lead to a lot of problems.

First: Servers. They neither wanted nor needed help in moderating. They have always moderated themselves. Plus, anarchy servers are known for profanity (I will talk about that later), and it is allowed there. Servers should have an option to turn moderation off.

Second: "Profanity". This should be an option to censor. Once again, anarchy servers, but also singleplayer (Also talking about that later) Plus, censoring "crap" but not "hell" does not make any sense.

Third: Realms. Why isn't the subscription automatically canceled? This can be seen as a scam (Unless people want to donate to Mojang, of course.)

Fourth: Singleplayer. It is unfair that certain platforms can no longer play on singleplayer worlds because of an online ban. You are essentially not letting them play the game THAT THEY PAYED FOR. This can also be seen as a scam.

Fifth: Reasons. We need to be told why we were banned, so that we can appeal. That is just common sense.

I hope this does not fall on deaf ears, like many other comments will. Microsoft/Mojang, I am calling you both out, you have not had the best history of listening to the people in your communities lately.

Chat reporting is a bad idea

Please do not add this feature to java Minecraft. it is an extremely flawed system that is vastly worse than the system already in place which is servers moderating their own servers. This is a system that has been in bedrock for a while and is still a terrible system.

Please. Please. Please don't go all the way through with this chat moderation thing on Java. Servers who have successfully moderated their chats for years don't need "high trained" outsiders without context to do it for them. You can also just mass report people, which would be terrible for youtubers and server owners. Microsoft doesn't pay for multiplayer server hosting, so they shouldn't moderate said servers. Also, the censoring in single-player is eerily similar to thought crime in 1984.

This feature should be a /game rule command rather than a feature. The servers are community lead meaning that its their own responsibility. Because they are community lead, you should let the people of the servers pick, not the "experienced minecraft mods".

I understand Minecraft is trying to do something here but people will abuse the system and report as many people as possible also the reports should be sent to people to be handled.

as many people have said, this update is awful. If you are trying to please the community it is exactly what most of us do not like. Servers can deal with it themselves. Of course no-one should be saying harmful stuff to others, but the actual server itself can deal with that, we don't need a third party to step in and dictate how punishments go, and what the crimes are, ESPECIALLY if nobody enjoys it.

The chat moderation feature is a terrible idea, as it is incredibly vulnerable to abuse by bad actors. It enables a high number of false bans, made even worse by the non-transparent appeal system. While you claim that every report will be evaluated by "highly trained" moderators, the amount of reports that can be expected will likely overwhelm even the best trained moderators, meaning they do not have the time to accurately asses each report. A larger Problem is the lack of context. Messages that can be highly offensive in public servers can be harmless or funny on private servers. Not every Minecraft player is a child and thus the general population should not be treated as such, especially on private servers, where all participants are usually aware of the server climate. Chat moderation or lack thereof on third-party servers should be left up to the respective admins, not a Mojang/Microsoft. You must be aware that this feature has the potential to kill communities, if not by the shear banning of the members, by the death of chat due the fear of a false ban. Please do not add this into the game. This will be disastrous.

The moderation system was good and yet you decide to just simply ruine it, why the duck would you do that? Just leave it be, community can control itself, no need for any help here. The only thing this change will bring is silence, everyone in game will be sacred of writing in the chat and will just talk on voice calls on platforma like discord. GIVE US BACK THE FREEDOM OF SPEACH

DO NOT ADD THIS FEATURE. DO NOT. It is not enough to reduce the amount of report categories. This is going to get abused without a doubt. The community has handled its own moderation for over a decade, and frankly, this is a massive waste of resources that would be better spent on making the game itself the best it can be. We PAID for this game, we should have access to ALL OF THE FEATURES. UNDO THIS FEATURE IMMEDIATELY.

This is an absolutely terrible idea, as servers have managed themselves for years and years just fine and the risk of false reports are too high to ignore, plus this interferes with the privacy of private servers.

This new chat reporting feature is a disgrace... just for all those server owners and server admins, they will get mass reported and banned for no reason, which leaves a server defenceless for a REAL hacker, cheater, or chat abusers. and the fact that they can just rip your singleplayer world away from you means that the game that YOU PAID FOR is useless and a waste of money. also what if the report abusers take things out of context? that just leads to more problems and more outrages. now what they need to do is allow people to opt-out, remove it from realms, remove the singleplayer consequences, and/or remove the entire feature, this is the only way that they will most likely keep their thing held up with gum and toothpicks that they call a game from dying after this.

no just no why would you do this literally everyone hates this idea so much for the fact you guys said with microsoft account migration Java minecraft would stay the same

I believe that this change isn't that terrible, the only difference I'd make is that a server owner can decide if they want this feature used on their server (including 3rd party servers and realms)!

I’ve been playing for over a decade now, and the day Microsoft bought Minecraft was the day I knew it would die, didn’t know when or how. But this seems to be the beginning, get your hands off Minecraft and stop doing things no one asked for.

I think chat report would be a cool idea if it went to the server moderation, not to Microsoft. Hypixel for example already has a system like this made with plugins. But Microsoft shouldn't have anything to do with it, and nobody should be banned globally.

None of us want a chat reporting system what if its used Maliciously against someone who hasn't done anything your going the right way to losing your player base I've been playing since 2012 I'm tempted to leave if this carries on
