Permanent bans aren't a very good idea imo; should only be applicable if the behavior was really bad. if it was just swearing or some other minor offense, that would be overkill, and really Mojang shouldn't need to handle it at all. Plus it could easily be abused assuming there's no way for Mojang to get context or to filter clearly false reports, like if someone was swearing on a server that allows it or even filters it by default.

Maybe you guys could add parental controls instead?

It's not hard to see what 99% of the Java Minecraft community wants. Please think before you destroy such an amazing long lasting community.

It is in no way your right to swoop in and moderate 3rd party private servers that have been moderating themselves for over a decade.

I think having an **opt-in** system where banned Minecraft players are unable to join would be a nice feature for some small servers, but it HAS TO BE dictated by the administrator(s) of the server in question. Realms is fine, that's your space. Interfering with the rule sets as dictated by these 3rd party servers' admins is simply unacceptable.

Please revert back the reporting system.

I've had a minecraft server for 5 years. With this new reporting system we will initiate the end of the server and no longer update to 1.19.1. This update is uncovered. The server owner alone should decide who gets banned and who doesn't. I didn't know that Mojang pays the server costs and can decide who is allowed to play on the server and who is not!
This system will bring chaos to all servers. Players who don't like trolls or server employees will report staffler for no reason. We don't want to keep supporting the game with the fear of being banned for no reason. We say NO to the system.

this reporting system is just not good, but rather awful to be honest... no one in the community likes this. do not go forward with this, the downfall of minecraft is about to start.

The global ban system is a terrible idea and will be abused more than it will do good. You might say that it can not be abused since you have people reading the reports but as with all games with similar systems some people will definitely fall through the cracks and be banned on false grounds. As many have requested before me: please let server/realm owners toggle this feature off in order to protect the players. Thank you.

The global ban system is really rising a concern, what about servers that explicitly allow something that other servers didn't allow (like swearing)!? While it may come out from a good intention, each server should at least have the option to decide whether they will let global ban players to join.

There are also already some third parties groups such mcban doing the same thing, so I really see no reason for Mojang to do that by themselves.

Ban system is just a catastrophe.
    1. System can be abused, especially on small servers.
    2. Sometimes you can say something wrong, it's ok, but ban for that isn't cool. Minecraft isn't a cheap game, but banned accounts are nothing because banned players will just play cracked game.
    3. What if you just want to play with friends? On server with no rules?
Minecraft isn't a shooter where you can be banned for cheats. With official ban system it will be impossible to play normally because you know ghat all you messages can be sent to mojang.

Delete or allow servers to turn off reporting system.

Please revert the reporting system. It's really easy to get abused with steamers asking to spam report people and youtubers organizing raids. It'd also be very easy to make spam report cheats therefore banning anyone and everyone!

Let's talk about how much of a terrible idea this is, and how this is going to be the absolute death of Minecraft at this rate.

    Seriously, revert this decision.

Please allow server admins to disable the reporting feature. You are going to get loads of reports and eventually turn to an automatic system for moderation. This is going to lead to people abusing the system to just get rid of people they don't like. Servers will also have varying levels of rules. Unless you run them, do not moderate servers.

    Dear Mojang,

I have loved Minecraft for a long time. Some of my best memories over the past few years have been spent on my or a friend's hosted server, having fun with my friends. We swear. I play Minecraft because it lets me connect with my friends in a way that we all enjoy. If I get my account permanently banned from online play for saying something that I would say in real life, to people I would say it to in real life, in an environment that is entirely private, how does this make sense?

Additionally, I have many concerns with this even on public servers. No reporting system is perfect, and of course false bans would be plentiful. Even on servers like Hypixel, there is a constant issue of false bans. They can't manage their bans. How on earth would you be able to handle the bans of your entire consumer base? Anyone with a few alt accounts could get entire servers banned. This system was never necessary, and should never be implemented. Maybe an optional chat reporting option can be introduced, where it is up to the server moderators to deal with the reported chats, but that should be as far as this goes. If little Timmy joins my Minecraft server, just give him a warning saying that I swear and he needs his Mom's permission to play.

This has never been a problem.
