Jeb once said that adding seasons to the game would change the flow for some players who might not like the added difficulty especially to crop growth and change of color in the biome.
However, I found a solution to that situation. In bedrock edition, the leaves change color to white when it snows, so add that to java to also be in parity. Then add two new biomes, which are Cherry Blossom Forest, and Maple Forest. Having two new trees, Cherry that has pink leaves and sometimes cherries drop, just like apples in oak trees, and Maple that has orange leaves and adds a new block that is a tapper, if you place on a tree, That is naturally generated, not player made. It will produce sap or syrup. It will add two new food items to the game. Cherries and Maple Syrup. The leaves keep their colors wherever they are.
Also add new weather, called Falling Leaves or Windy. It won't add wind animation more so, just like rain and snow, it is like particles flowing through the wind, it won't be too much just a few leaves drifting through the entire screen. But at a distinct height, they will not appear. Just like rain turn to snow when in high altitudes.
This concept can even add moobloom, fireflies, new birch forest too
Also, the two new biomes will not change the color of the leaves, and the crop growths will not change. Just add new blocks and new particle effect/weather effect into the game.
It might be small but it's much more likely to be possible for Minecraft
