Fireflies but make it ambient

As of today, Mojang says Fireflies will not but in 1.19 but it is still an idea they'd like to look into.

Fireflies could be easily implemented by having a block emit fireflies as particles. It would be for decoration and will spawn naturally in swamp biomes and could emit particles just like the spore blossom does. similar to the spore blossom, the block does not need to be renewable and only spawns naturally.

I am imagining a "firefly nest" that hangs from mangrove trees and can be picked up with silk touch. it could even be made renewable if you'd like by giving it a chance to spawn when growing mangrove trees.

This would allow you to play with the new feature of particle emitting blocks added in 1.18, it gives you an excuse to still add fireflies, it prevents lag by making them particles while also avoiding needing them to interact with frogs, and lastly, it gives the player the freedom to keep or get rid of the particles if they don't want them.

    Yeah! Mojang shouldn’t just remove fireflies because frogs can’t eat them, just make them ambient!

    Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if something like the Fireflies already had plenty of development. The only reason they were scrapped was because some community members brought up that some fireflies were poisonous. They could easily cut out interactions between the firefly and frog mobs, but Mojang said they wouldn't work on Fireflies for the next couple updates. We've seen this happen to the Illusioner, Zombie Horse, Fletching Table, etc. How many other features are they gonna put off?? I can't imagine what "priorities" would demand so much empty promises for an update.

    To be honest, fireflies are pointless. It's just 2 pixels and they don't do anything.
