The problems with new updates
I have been playing this game for around about 8 years now and the biggest issue that i see is how updates are being introduced. In my opinion a vast majority of features are being wasted. Rather than adding new features and mechanics i see new variations of existing features or a new way to do something that already exists.
I understand that it is very difficult to introduce new mechanics whilst still feeling vanilla, but in my opinion, of the new features that have been added to the game over the past few years many have been very lacking in actual gameplay use. Most players work to get maxed out gear and then turn their attention towards building, redstone or something else similar. And whilst i dont see a direct problem with this, i feel as though so much more could be added. After you obtain maxed armor, there isnt much to search for. I dont think i need to go into detail on the lack of interest in many chest loot tables and structures. Almost all contain fairly boring items that could be gathered at the begining of the game and then forgotten about.
There would be too much to suggest as individiaul changes, but in my eyes, the team needs to rethink what new updates add to the game, and focus on adding new features rather than add variations of old features. I was really excited for the ancient cities as an example, but so far i have found them rather underwealming and a waste of new structure, and i know many others feel the same.
