Hot and cold caves

In Cold biomes you could get cold caves with coldstone which would be stone with a blue tint. Also you could get icicles and blue ice in there. In hot biomes you could get hot caves with burnstone which could be stone with a red tint. They also would have glowstone and lava

    Then it would make glowstone too easy to obtain.

    maybe replace glowstone with magma blocks

    Yea no, glowstone needs to be more of a challenge. Needs to stay in the Nether!
