Hello,
to boil it down to a very simple proposal:
Allow multiple tools to be carried in a Bundle based on proportional durability, up to 1 full durability tool.
So for example you could carry 1 wooden axe at half durability, 1 diamond hoe on quarter durability, and 1 golden shovel on quarter durability within the same bundle.
There are already other "unintuitive" item characteristics for bundles in place anyway; Eggs and Ender pearls and other items that only stack to 16 take up more than their native item space in bundles without any in-world explanation for it. Of course this is because their space taken is proportional to their stack sizes.
I am proposing the same proportionality for anything that has a durability bar.
This would allow players to use an enchanted pickaxe on a mining trip until it is almost completely broken, then store it away alongside some of the loot they found in a bundle without it wasting an additional inventory slot. It can also be used to bring home a loot haul from explored structures or a monster farm.
With all the inventory management overhauls that have come to the game, tools, weapons, and armor seem to have been overlooked.
This would introduce a sensible way to allow players to carry them in bundles. This also takes some duty load off shulker boxes, since it turns bundles into an even more viable option to carry items of low durability that would otherwise take up massive amounts of space in shulker boxes.
Please consider it.
Best regards.
