Suggestion: Revitalise Older Structures and Exploration

I’d love to see Mojang revisit some of Minecraft’s older structures and update them to make exploration feel more rewarding and relevant to modern Minecraft.

Strongholds in particular feel like relics of an older version of the game. Their main purpose is still essentially to provide access to the End, but compared to how much Minecraft has evolved, they could offer much more in terms of exploration, resources, rooms and unique loot.

The same could be done with smaller structures such as dungeons, desert pyramids and other older generated structures. Rather than replacing their original purpose, they could be expanded with more interesting layouts, resources, secrets and unique rewards.

It could even introduce completely new rare structures, such as an elaborate frozen laboratory or ice labyrinth hidden in snowy and ice biomes, containing unique loot and environmental challenges.

Dark oak woodland mansions could also benefit from a similar overhaul. They are impressive when first discovered, but there is very little reason to seek them out once you have explored one.

The goal: make older structures worth discovering again by giving them more variety, meaningful resources, unique loot and reasons to return to them throughout a Minecraft world.

Suggestion: More Dynamic and Dangerous Biomes

I’d love to see Minecraft’s biomes become more dynamic, with rare environmental events that make exploration more unpredictable and give different regions their own hazards.

Ice biomes could occasionally experience intense blizzards, severely reducing visibility and causing players caught outside to gradually freeze. Minecraft already has a freezing mechanic with powdered snow, so this could build upon an existing system rather than creating something completely new.

Players could prepare for extreme cold by modifying armour at a new or existing crafting station. For example, adding wool lining could provide increased resistance to freezing and make long journeys through icy biomes more manageable.

Deserts could have sandstorms that dramatically reduce visibility and create their own environmental dangers. Players could similarly prepare for these conditions through equipment and shelter.

I’d also love to see rare, fully generated volcanoes. These could be large natural structures with lava flows, volcanic rock and underground areas, with some occasionally erupting and altering the surrounding landscape. Eruptions should be rare enough to feel like major world events.

These features could make biomes feel like actual environments rather than just different landscapes, while giving players more reasons to prepare, explore and interact with the world around them.

Suggestion: Overworld Structures and Woodland Mansion Revamp

Minecraft already has impressive structures like Nether Fortresses and Bastions, but I’d love to see an Overworld equivalent hidden inside rare volcanoes. Imagine enormous molten castles, ancient fortresses and lava-filled temples built into volcanic interiors, with bridges over lava lakes, hidden chambers and unique loot. These could offer the same sense of danger and discovery as Nether structures while giving the Overworld something equally memorable.

I’d also love to see Woodland Mansions receive a major revamp. They’re impressive from the outside, but exploring them rarely feels as rewarding as it should. I’d love to see more elaborate layouts, secrets, unique loot and an eerie atmosphere, with thick fog surrounding the mansion and its grounds. Something similar to the Forest Temple from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be an incredible source of inspiration, creating a mysterious, unsettling atmosphere that makes exploring feel like an adventure.

Both ideas would give players more reasons to explore the Overworld, discover rare structures and experience the same sense of wonder and danger that makes exploring the Nether so memorable.

Suggestion: Deep Ocean Trenches and Underwater Exploration

I’d love to see oceans become significantly deeper, with enormous trenches stretching almost to bedrock level. These could contain elaborate, ancient underwater structures hidden in the darkness, creating a sense of fear, mystery and wonder as players descend into the depths.

I like Ocean Monuments, but outside of collecting sponges and obtaining prismarine, I rarely feel a reason to revisit them. The oceans could offer so much more, with sunken ruins, colossal abandoned structures, underwater caverns and rare discoveries that reward players willing to venture into the unknown.

Imagine descending into a vast trench where sunlight barely reaches, discovering the remains of an ancient civilisation or a massive structure partially buried in the seabed. Unique loot, dangerous mobs and environmental challenges could make these expeditions genuinely rewarding.

I’d love the deep ocean to feel like an entirely different world, where preparation is essential and every descent brings the possibility of discovering something extraordinary. Minecraft already has the foundations for underwater exploration, but greater ocean depth, more ambitious structures and meaningful rewards could turn it into one of the most memorable experiences in the game.
